The proactive activities of global mega-corporations are notable overseas and various changes, including revisions to the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law, have been ceaseless in Japan as well. Amidst intensive global competition, we have been tackling research and development of new drugs and efforts to contribute to a healthy society both in Japan and overseas. Furthermore, we are boldly making definitive strides forward in the twenty-first century in line with our company motto of "In Products-Quality 1st" , "In Business-Honesty 1st" and "In Management-Stability 1st".

As mentioned above, we are in an era of immense "transition" and "rapid change," and for that very reason, Daiichi Pharmaceutical has launched a corporate image as an "R&D-driven global pharmaceutical company." With the ethical drug business at the core, our in-house research and development yields products that we independently sell not only in Japan but also in the U.S. and around the world. This is also proof positive of our intentions to be a leader in the pharmaceutical industry with our own distinctive global awareness that is not sidetracked by the various changes.

Furthermore, we will be proactively involved in compliance with corporate ethics, environmental management, philanthropic activities and such in fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities in society as we strive to be a company that "contributes to better human health around the world."

Initiatives based on a stance as a "global entity" will most likely increase in importance in all sectors in the future. Likewise, in the pharmaceutical industry, it is of utmost importance to create new drugs that comply with and are accepted by international standards. In addition, Daiichi Pharmaceutical is reinforcing proactive tie-ups with advanced domestic and overseas research institutions as well as partnerships with group companies such as Daiichi Suntory Pharma. We will strive to strengthen our joint research and development structure between Japan, the U.S. and Europe under the "Global R&D System" project and continue to take on challenges to deliver exceedingly superior pharmaceutical products to the domestic and overseas markets.
