From what i gather you were NOT under their supervision and why didnt you just use a ladder? As for that "girl" she is also a very well trained lighting technician and probably has considerably more skill and experience than Burnt Mill school actually realise , certainly enough to make their squalid little rig work at any case! As for just using a long nose par can with gels thats not UV is it! Nor does it give that effect , even using 181 wont do that! UV is a specific light effect which causes uv receptive materials to temporarily glow. NO gel filters will do that. Nor do they even give that effect and i know cos ive tried doing it all over the UK in god knows how many venues and festivals etc and in several different countries as well! Not only that but they do have various carcinogenic properties as well if you use them long enough - certainly 400 W cannons are not designed to be used with people on stage and if they are then a distance of about 20 ft is required under HSE regs. Even after that they shouldnt be left on too long.
