By the very definition of a matriachy it was one - Thatcher was in control and was our head of Parliament. Most but not all of her advisors were male as was her entire cabinet but, as we all know ,she made the ultimate decisions and this was to be her undoing. Incidentally id like to point out that the 2 most brutal females in this country were Boudicca and Queen Victoria - both caused mayhem and havoc. Certainly Victoria was head of the largest empire that the World has ever seen! It wasnt gained by bribery neither! And dont go on about Disreali was the PM etc , cos SHE made us go to expand the empire on basis of "trade".
