Your selections are just the tip of the iceberg and are all mainstream war films...

what about:

Apocalypse Now, Das Boot (The directors cut is a must!), Patton, Thin Red Line (interesting you mention Saving.. but not TRL), Mash, Regeneration, Schindlers List, Band of Brothers (technically a series...), No Mans Land, Welcome to Sarajevo, and for more balkans stuff check out 'Underground' and 'pretty village, pretty flame'...

I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting...
