Missy P, if you read any of my above comments you would see that I am for a woman using pepper spray to defend herself against a potential rape attack. This is becuase I know how weak women are compared to men having had the pleasure of training some women fighters. MA training alone is not enough. I am not saying all MA's are useless, just that the key things for preventing rape are not taught. Things like awareness. Bascially, using common sence. If it does come down to a physical end then to be honest there are still a fair few factors to consider still.
This is where my post becomes long winded so my apoligies.
Confrontation sparks an adrenaline rush which in turn faces you with two options. You will be complelled to fight or flight. You wont actually analyse in your head what you are going to do. You will just do it. You will either defend yourself or roll over and give up. This isnt a women thing. The is what all humans do. More often then not, someone who does not have the conditioning to this kind of violence will freeze.

Secondly, the reason I am so against pushing women into MA is the same reason I think its absurd that men do it. Some people just cannot comprehend the level of violence and agression needed to defend yourself. They go training thinking there learning how to defend themselves but all along they are deluding themselves. They become cocky, take risks they wouldnt have before and sometimes that is even worse then being ignorant. Also, most MA's do not practice what we call "live" training. This is basically sparring and techniques practised against a moving opponent. I would gaurentee you that any rapist is going to be very much "live" in his actions.

I am not saying to women DO NOT practise MA's. I am just sying please think about where you choose to train. You wouldnt go to the first tattooist you saw would you?
