Just a few testimonials -- pageant office, 09:12:35 10/01/07 Mon [1]
Dear Danfranc Productions:
Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunities you provide the young women of California. I was in attendance for the 2007 Miss Teenage California Pageant in Los Angeles. Your staging, choreography, and the smiles on each girl’s face showed me that THIS pageant should be the model for all the rest. It was emotional, fun, exciting, and entertaining all at the same time. Your scholarship awards are second to none. Congratulations on all of the hard work. It showed. Your staff should all be very proud.
Dear Mr. Lameira:
I have competed in two other state teen pageants in California. One was held in Palm Springs and the other in the San Francisco Bay Area. Yours was the best by far. The love of your staff for ALL of the contestants was apparent from the moment I arrived. Rehearsals were fun instead of grueling. The meals were very good, and although I didn’t win, I feel I got more out of this one experience than any other in the last five years. Thank you for giving us California girls our moment to shine.
Dear Mr. Lameira,
The pageant was so much fun! I might not have made the top ten, but I left Los Angeles feeling like a winner! I look forward to putting my $1,000 scholarship to good use. The chaperones, the girls, the volunteers were absolutely wonderful. I truly hope to participate again next year, so please put me on the list to receive an application!
I’m so proud to have been part of such a wonderful production. The staff was so careing and helpful. Danfranc Productions did such a wonderful job putting on such a fabulous show and I am absolutely completely impressed. No words can describe what a spectacular time I had! I wish it had lasted longer and I hope to participate next year. The Miss Teenage California 2007 Scholarship Pageant exceeded all of my expectations.
Thank you for letting me be part of something so wonderful,
Erica Abke

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! All of your hard work paid off, as I have just returned from one of the best state pageants I have ever seen. So many lovely, nice girls and parents too who were extremely wonderful and supportive of ALL of the contestants. Congrats. On a wonderful job. Some of the these other state pageants should take lessons from you, Mr. Lameira. You’re the best!
Congratulations My Beautiful Niece!! -- Susan Boundar (Joyful and Thankful), 11:00:44 08/16/07 Thu [1]

ARTICLE ABOUT THE MISS TEENAGE CALIFORNIA PAGEANT -- Chris Robertson, Author, 12:47:50 05/18/07 Fri [1]
While beauty pageants have gotten a bad name over the years, there are some great pageants out there that help women further their academic aspirations. The California Teen Scholarship Pageant is one such pageant that isn't all about beauty or modeling, it's about helping women further their education, build confidence, and even give them a leg up on helping in their local community. These pageants really are much different than your traditional teen pageant or beauty pageant and are worth looking into for every woman.
The great thing about scholarship pageants is that they don't focus on beauty alone. Of course, judging does include beauty and poise, but it's not just about beauty. In fact, these scholarship pageants usually do not have a swimsuit or talent judging, which is a load off of most girls' minds. In fact, pageants like the California Teen Scholarship Pageant usually judge on grade point average, poise, beauty, and overall personality and aspirations. This means that every teen, whether she has been in pageants all of her life or this is her first one.
In fact, teen pageants such as the California Teen Scholarship Pageant encourage young women from all backgrounds and all experience levels to get involved. Most of the teens that get involved with these scholarship pageants are first time pageant competitors. California pageants report that many of the girls compete once and come back the next year with a couple friends so that they can all compete and hopefully win a scholarship to help them to go the school of their choice. The great thing about this is that good portions of the teens are on an even playing field, so that anyone truly can win. You don't have to be the most beautiful teen in the state to win this pageant, because it's about so much more than that.
Most of the teen scholarship pageants allow girls to register for the competition online or through the mail. You'll usually be required to send a picture and an essay or completed questionnaire in ahead of time and then a judging panel will determine who will go on to compete in the actual pageant. Teens that do not get into the pageant the first time they apply should not be deterred; instead they should plan to apply again the following year. These scholarship pageants really are a great way to help pay for school, which we all know is extraordinarily expensive.
If there is a teen in your life that needs to build some self-confidence or could use some help paying for college, a pageant such as the California Teen Scholarship Pageant is a great idea. This pageant is all about rewarding the girl that is going places, to make college more affordable and reward her for all of her hard work. The most traditional aspect of these pageants is the evening gown round, which only requires that the teens wear a long dress. The teen can pick any type of dress that she wants, so she feels comfortable and is able to portray her personality. The evening gown round is done to help the judges determine the teen that is able to carry herself well in every situation.
Many teens are looking for a way to get noticed, to pay for college, and help build their resume and self-confidence. Pageants such as the California Teen Scholarship Pageant can help a teen do all of these things, and more. These scholarship pageants really are a confidence builder, and can be the one thing that catapults a young woman to a place where she can succeed and do the very best at whatever it is she wants to do.

Hey girls. I'm thinking about doing the pagent, but I'm not sure if I'm really cut out for it. Does anyone have any advice either way?
Miss Teenage CA '07 -- Erica Abke (happy), 15:44:55 02/19/07 Mon [2]
Hello fellow contestants, I'm Erica, Miss Teen Redding ^_^ I wanted to share this poem with you. I found it beneficial and I'm sure you will to.
To those considering entering in this pageant: this poem reflects what the Miss Teenage CA Scholarship Pageant is all about and this pageant is an opportunity of a lifetime, don't miss out!
It's not the title, nor the crown that counts,
It's not the weight lost that really amounts,
It's not the make-up design, or the gown that you wear,
Or the shape of your build, or the length of your hair.
You see, the growth of a queen is all done inside,
It's nothing support hose or make-up can hide.
The real preparation is done in the mind,
It's leaving your fears and your faults behind,
It's lifting your soul to a place that's far seen,
It's molding a woman to the height of a queen.
It's hard work, and it's not easily done,
But when it is over, you'll know who has won,
When the pageant is through,
and the lights are turned down,
You'll know you're a winner and you'll have your crown.
You see, all crowns are different, it's really an art,
Yours can be rhinestones or the growth of the heart.

Hi my name is Ashley! I am so excited for the 2007 Miss Teenage California Pageant this year. This is my first year living in California and my first time competing in the pageant. I hear so many wonderful things about the pageant and I just can't wait to meet all the wonderful girls and staff. I am really nervous but also very excited. Thank God, a quality pageant without a swimsuit competition. -- Jane, 08:33:46 02/24/07 Sat [2]
I am very happy their is no swimsuit competition in this pageant. The prizes are the best in the state for a teen pageant. I've checked them all out with my Mom, and nothing even comes close. I guess that's why it's been going on for 28 years.
I'm really excited about meeting everyone. I'm 16 and this will be my very first pageant. I'm nervous, but excited to meet everyone.
I've almost got all my sponsors. My family is helping, including my grandparents and Aunt and some small businesses in my town.
Wishing the 2007 Miss Teenage California all the best! -- Dana, 11:37:49 03/31/07 Sat [1]
As a past participant, I would like to wish all of the girls in this years pageant the very best of luck.
Have fun and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. Make sure Mom and dad are there. I had over 10 people in the audience the year I competed, and I'm from Northern California! It truly is a family event. During rehearsal time my famiy went to Hollywood and Santa Monica. I enjoyed the rehearsals alot. It's a lot of work, but it pays off ina first class production.
Have fun, smile, and remember make friends! That's what it really is all about. Not to mention the best prizes of any state pageant around.
Time to Shine! -- Erica Abke, 20:13:52 03/29/07 Thu [1]
Hey girls, pageant weekend is almost here! I have a quick message I would like to give to all of you, as the current representative of Redding. An essay I wrote about the importance of continuing education was recently published in the Creative Communication Spring 2007 Anthology, and was also selected as a top ten winner. While I won't share the entire essay with you, I would like to share the last few sentences, because I believe they pertain to the Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant.
"Education is more than attending school. It's also about being involved in your community, learning about yourself, realizing your goals, and how to achieve those goals. If there was one message I could give to the world, it would be: don't stop achieving, don't stop learning. Continue your education, and you will have endless possibilities."

PAGEANT TIME IS ALMOST HERE! -- Danfranc Productions, 08:08:29 03/21/07 Wed [1]
SPEECH- Ladies now is the time to practice your 20-second speech in front of family and friends. Be original, be genuine, but above all be brief. The on-stage speech should be centered on your educational and career goals. No need to say your name during this time. The MC will be doing that.
EVENING GOWN- It of course can be any color and style, but must be long. This is your one opportunity to wow the judges. Appearance counts in every pageant known to man. Dress age appropriately.
RED AFTER FIVE DRESS- This is only for Sunday's opening production number and speech competition for Top 30. Should be solid, vibrant red. Accesories, i.e. earrings are fine.
TICKETS- All "official candidates" were mailed and are being sent a tickets packet by certified mail. Someone from your home will have to sign for them. You should try to sell as many tickets as possible. Evert contestant should have a large cheering section for them. The pageant is definately a family affair, so tell grandparents, siblings, and friends. They all should be there in celebration of you.
THE RIGHT ATTITUDE- Know that only one young lady will be crowned Miss Teenage California 2007. There are however many other prizes and opportunities awaiting you. Come to the pageant to do your very best, but above all have fun and make new friends. That is what pageantry should be all about.
We here at Danfranc Productions have enjoyed assisting you this year. We look forward to meeting you April 20th in Los Angeles. Good luck to everyone.

MISS TEENAGE CALIFORNIA 1987, MELISSA ANDERSON-PALMER -- Danfranc Productions, 08:23:32 02/24/07 Sat [1]
at 4'11" tall and 13 years of age, Melissa Anderson become the youngest and shortest Miss Teenage California in history. Those in attendance can still recall the vivacious Alta Loma girl who looked like Cinderella and nailed her on stage question with the conviction of a seasoned veteran. A few years therefter the Anderson family relocated to Utah. Melissa eventually graduated from Brigham Young University with degrees in Spanish and Russian, minoring in Communications. She lived in Uraguay for 18 months as an LDS missionary. At the age of 25 she won the Miss Utah USA title and become the 3rd runner up at the 1998 Miss USA Pageant. While attending BYU Melissa met her future husband Brad Palmer. Melissa is presently Director of Marketing for a publishing company that produces magazines for college students. The Palmer's are the proud parent's of two baby boys, and reside in Springville, Utah.
MISS TEENAGE CALIFORNIA 1999, ELLEN CHAPMAN -- Danfranc Productions, 07:48:39 02/22/07 Thu [1]
Ellen won Miss Teenage California representing Metro. Santa Clara County at the 1999 state pageant. She eventually graduated from Valley Christian High School in San Jose, and went on to attend Sonoma State University. At Sonoma State she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Multicultural Studies. She is now a full-fledged teacher in the Sonoma School District. In 2004 Ellen was crowned Miss California USA and competed in the Miss USA Pageant. Ellen recently married and is a wonderful example of a young woman who used her scholarship dollars to her best advantage. We wish Ellen all the best, as she has remained a loyal friend and supporter of the Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant.
I'm SO excited! -- Marin Hope (happy), 23:57:07 02/21/07 Wed [1]
Hey Pageant Sisters!
I am SO excited for the 2007 Miss Teenage California Pageant! Maybe a little TOO excited. I truly look forward to meeting all of you. I have competed in a few pageants in the past, and though I don’t know how much insight I can offer, (considering I still get nervous), I would love to at least extend words of encouragement to first-time “pagentees.” We were all chosen to compete in the 2007 Miss Teenage California Pageant for a reason. This in itself is such a amazing accomplishment! It is not about the crown, it's about the experiance you'll have, and the incredible young woman you'll meet! If you believe in yourself, you are already a queen! I know it's sounds cheezy, I know, but it's so true. Again I can’t wait to meet all of you! I know that April 20th-22nd will be SO much fun!
Sincerely,
Marin Hope

NEWS FROM A FORMER RUNNER UP -- in the UK, 11:02:56 09/29/06 Fri [9]
Greetings from London! I was a runner up in the late 90's and my experience was totally positive. I was just a high school sophomore when I entered, and received scholarship funds which helped me through college. I am now involved in real estate in London, England where I have lived for the past three years. I look back on my memories at Miss Teenage California, as one of the best in my teen years. I would like to wish all of you girls the best of luck. Don't be shy. This was my first pageant and I loved every minute. Good luck, and God Bless you all.
I HEAR THIS PAGEANT IS THE BEST OF THEM -- Ashley, 09:47:22 02/08/07 Thu [1]
My friend at school has competed in a few pageants. This will be my first. I'm a little nervous, but she says thats common to be nervous. She says once your there everyone is nice and you'll have a great time. I'm excited. My Mom and I are going shopping for my red dress and I'm going to wear the dress I am also wearing at my prom later in the year for evening gown.
Anyway, my friend competed in another state teen pageant and told me that other won offered very little in prizes. She said that Miss Teenage California was the best, so I guess it should be fun. Glad there is no swimsuit competition. I'd probably do it if it had one, but I'm glad it doesn't.

MY GREAT EXPERIENCE AT MISS TEENAGE CALIFORNIA -- Natalie, 11:52:22 01/27/07 Sat [2]
I've had the chance to compete in two pageants. A few year's ago I competed in Miss California Teen USA and I also competed in Miss Teenage California. Make no mistake girls, Miss Teenage California is the REAL THING. I just found my experience at Miss Teenage California a wonderful chance to meet other girls who were there to make friends and have a great time. At Miss California Teen USA I unfortunately did not have as good a time.
I found the staff at Miss Teenage California to be great. MY chaperone Astrid was always helpful and supportive. I never expected the rehearsals to be fun, but they were as fun as the pageant itself. The meals were wonderful, and I made lot's of friends. I still write and call my roommate.
To every girl considering entering, DO IT! It will give you wonderful memories of your teen years. I didn't go to my prom that year. Instead I went to the pageant. I had no regrets. You can go to a dance anytime. You can't compete for Miss Teenage California every year.
The Pageant -- Amanpreet Kaur (happy), 21:01:05 11/06/06 Mon [2]
omg i'm so excited for this pageant!!!! i just can't wait to see all the talented participants this year.....
this is my first time participating in a pageant... and hopfully, it will be an awsome experience!!!
Everyone tells me is the best teen pageant in the state. I've not competed before, so I'm really excited about meeting everyone. See everyone soon. -- Megan, 20:01:53 01/22/07 Mon [1]

We are proud to say in the history of our own pageant system we have never disqualified a contestant. The Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant is an independent program operated by Danfranc Productions and the California Scholarship Foundation for twenty-eight years. The Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant provides more in college scholarships at its pageant than any other state teen pageant in the nation. This is a fact we are very proud of. We firmly believe at Danfranc Productions in helping to promote our youth in a positive way at all times. It is our credo and we live by it.

My Weekend -- Kailey VanderBaan, 16:58:37 10/02/06 Mon [1]
I participated in the Miss Teenage California Pageant last year. It was the first pageant that I had ever been a part of and I went into it not knowing what to expect. When I first arrived, I was nervous, having only seen the way that "pageant girls", the stunning yet cruel attitude, act in movies and television shows. I don't know if girls really act like this in other pageants, but they most certainly don't in this one. Every single girl that I met was increidly nice and inviting. They were all beautiful and amazing. I still remember when Miss Teenage California 2006 responded to one of her questions that any girl on stage could have worn the crown and made us all proud, and she was definitely right. I plan to participate again this year and I am excited already.
My experience -- J.S., 14:22:33 10/02/06 Mon [1]
I competed in Miss Teenage California two years ago. I was a junior in High school at the time. I entered not knowing what to expect. What I found was the best group of girls, who all were good students and the best in the state. They were all ages, all heights, weights, and above all they were for the most part nervous. Once settled in though, we had a great time. The staff was wonderful. I still write to my chaperone, who has become a dear friend. I would highly reccommend Miss Teenage California to any teen who wants to experience a program that has you the contestant in their best interest. I had participated in another pageant since, but it could not even compare to the fun times I had at Miss Teenage California.
1) How is the Miss Teenage California Pageant judged?
Each contestant will be judged in three areas of competition during the preliminary round: Achievements and Activities, Personality, and Poise and Appearance in Evening Gown. Judging criteria specifically focuses on character, achievements and activities, poise, confidence, personality and overall appearance.
2) Is there a swimsuit or talent portion of the competition?
No to both! There is no talent competition and no swimsuit competition.
3) Can I have a friend enter the pageant with me?
Yes, absolutely. In fact, we encourage it! Many of last year's contestants have chosen to return this year and have recommended their friends to participate as well.
4) Does my weight and/or height and body type matter?
Absolutely not! Whether you're 5' tall or 6' tall it doesn't matter. The judges will acknowledge physical fitness, which includes a healthy and fit body with no requirements for height or weight. There is usually a wide range of body types that compete at the state pageant.
5) If I win, will it interfere with school?
We make school the number one priority! As Miss Teenage California you can have a busy year or a very relaxing year. It is totally up to you. Your main obligations will be to to return to crown your successor should you win. Absolutely no other obligations!
6) What if I have never done a pageant before? Does that matter?
Not at all. In fact most of our contestants are newcomers to pageants. No experience is required or necessary. We have had many winners who never competed in a pageant before coming to Miss Teenage California.
7) What style of gown should I choose?
The only requirement for the evening gown competition is that you wear a long gown. You can choose any style, color, fabric, etc. Choose a gown that best shows your personality. Many contestants wear prom style or pageant style gowns. You will find gowns at many bridal salons or large department stores.
8) There are a lot of pageants out there, how do I know which one to choose?
The best way to decide is to do research on the organization, etc. Look into who owns it, what are the prizes, and how long have they been around. The Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant is the longest running state teen pageant in the nation. The company has produced special events and pageants since 1977. This pageant and it's Director, Frank Lameira have won numerous honors.
9) What if I have more questions that aren't on this list?
You are welcome to call the pageant office at (916) 684-4225 or email us at Danfrancprod@aol.com Either way we would be more than happy to hear from you and answer any questions you may have.
10) Is there a guide or handbook that is provided should I be accepted to be a participant?
Yes. The pageant will supply all accepted contestants with our 40 page Miss Teenage California Handbook. This will serve as your official guide as you prepare to participate in Miss Teenage California.
11) Must I win a local pageant first?
Absolutely not! The Miss Teenage California Pageant is entirely at-large. You do not need to enter a local pageant to enter. In fact 99.9% of all contestants do not. If accepted you come directly to the state pageant.
12) What is the history of the Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant?
The pageant was founded in 1980 and for the past twenty-eight years has awarded hundred of thousands in college scholarships and prizes. The Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant is the longest running state teen pageant in the nation. The swimsuit competition was eliminated in the 1980's, and in it's place the achievements and activities category of judging was added. The state pageant has been honored three times by the International Pageants Association for excellence. It's founder Frank Lameira was inducted into the Performing Arts Hall of Fame for his contribution to the education of our states youth.
Great website. -- Jennifer Hitchcock, 06:55:57 09/26/06 Tue [1]
I was going to enter another teen pageant in Palm Springs in October, until I came across Miss Teenage California. I think I'm going to do Miss Teenage California. What I like best is their website. I entered one small localpageant and the winner got practically nothing. I'm not entering for the prizes, although the scholarships would be great. I want to be a veterinarian. I like this message board. Look forward to chatting it up with you about Miss Teenage California. I heard from a girl at my school who was in it, that it was a blast! Lot's of normal girls just there to have fun, and who knows maybe even win.
Bye
Jennifer
TESTIMONIAL FROM 2006 STATE PAGEANT -- STATE PAGEANT OFFICE, 06:18:08 09/26/06 Tue [1]
Danfranc Productions,
Wow, what a pageant! I didn’t realize an experience for my sister could be so positive. She is a shy girl and we were very careful to expose her to rejection, but then again that is not what this program is about. As your host said, “every girl on this stage is a winner.” It was a message which echoed loud and clear all weekend. My sister had the time of her life. Thank you to your excellent staff, outstanding show, and for caring. With so much negativity out there in the world it was refreshing to see so many wonderful young women, all goal oriented experience the fun and excitement that this weekend provided. My sister commented when it was over, I’m going to miss my roommate and all the girls and staff.” Congratulations on a super event. Although my little sister wasn’t crowned Miss Teenage California 2006, she left with a positive outlook on life. She also quoted to me something I am going to write down. She said Mr. Lameira, the Pageant Director said at orientation, “It’s not that you win or lose but the experiences you learn along the journey.” My sister was impressed with everything you kind folks did for her and all of the other contestants. Continued best wishes.
COMPARED TO OTHER PAGEANTS -- Cyndi, 05:48:37 09/26/06 Tue [1]
I was doing some internet research and came across Miss Teenage California. What I like best is no swimsuit! I also like the fact that the pageant seems to focus more on the overall-all girl rather than what she looks like in a bikini.
The prizes of a few other California teen pageants don't even compare. The winners get practically nothing and the runners up just show up. I think sending in my application for Miss Teenage California. Hope to meet you all there. I'm Cyndi from Vacaville. This would be my first pageant. Good luck to you girls!
Other contestants -- Stesha, 22:23:43 09/25/06 Mon [1]

ANOTHER TESTIMONIAL FROM 2006 -- Brett Summitt, Vice-President, 12:48:37 09/24/06 Sun [1]
Dear Danfranc Productions,
We just wanted to say thanks for a fantastic "first" experience in a pageant. You walked us through it from the beginning with your extremely organized packets of information. Never was there a question regarding directions, or deadlines. We arrived in Los Angeles not knowing what to expect! We were greeted with kindness, competency, structure, exceptional staff, chaperones, and security! We were VERY impressed with the safety measures in which our daughter was subjected to all weekend. Thank you for a wonderful experience filled with fun, growth, and memories. We hope to participate again in the future.
Vince, Debbie and Brittany Hambright, Miss Teen Southern CA 2006
TESTIMONIAL FROM 2006 -- testimonial from 06., 16:14:59 09/21/06 Thu [1]
Dear Mr. Lameira & Staff,
My daughter competed in your 2006 Miss Teenage California Scholarship Pageant. She had competed once before in the Miss California Teen USA Pageant. I can honestly tell you that this experience was so much a more positive one for her. Your staff’s dedication to making sure the girls were having a good time, was evident when my daughter came up to me after the pageant and said, Mom, I had so much fun. I didn’t win a thing but this experience was the best one I ever had.” What more can a parent ask for? Your staff is exceptional. When I had a question someone was always there. The other parents I met were supportive of not only their own daughter but also all of the contestants. I am a schoolteacher so I look at everything with a jaundiced eye. I can wholeheartedly say the Miss Teenage California experience was a positive one not only for my child, but the others who competed. Kudos’ to your excellent staff, outstanding finals show, superb entertainment and remarkable staging. Mr. Lameira I enjoyed having an opportunity to chat briefly with you at the pageant, amidst your responsibilities. I could tell you are an exceptional man who truly cares about the young women who compete. My younger daughter now wants to participate next year. Thank you for working so hard. I will spread the word that the Miss Teenage California is #1 in my book.

HERE IS A TESTIMONIAL FROM ONE OF LAST YEAR'S CONTESTANTS. -- MOD, 09:19:48 09/20/06 Wed [1]
Dear Danfranc Productions:
Thank you for providing such a positive opportunity for the young women of California! I entered the pageant weekend feeling unsure and a little nervous of what to expect, but upon arrival I was greeted warmly by a dedicated, caring, and upbeat staff who quickly took away any doubts or concerns that I previously had. The amount of time and energy that you put into the competition and preparation for the weekend is nothing short of amazing! The ability to run such a smooth production with the given number of participants was very reassuring of my faith in your organization. I had a truly amazing time and am so proud to have been a part of a group of such beautiful, kind, accomplished, driven, and talented girls from across the state! The memories and insight that I gained will definitely last a lifetime.
The staff, chaperones, choreographers, technicians, and performers made the experience so memorable and enjoyable! Thank you again for having a desire to portray women in such a positive light. I was very honored to be a participant and representative in this year’s competition.
Fondly,
Brie Hogan
