Stacie Stokley, of Scott County, was crowned Mississippi Miss Hospitality 2006 on Saturday night at the Saenger Theatre located in Downtown Hattiesburg.

Stokley, a student at Mississippi College, said she is excited about the opportunity to promote Mississippi for the next year.

"I am so excited to travel to every inch of Mississippi," Stokley said. Stokley is the 57th woman to hold the title of Miss Hospitality and will spend the next year traveling over 30,000 miles promoting tourism and economic development for the state.

First alternate was Gail Sims of Enterprise; second alternate was Sydni Stone of Pike County, third alternate was Jessica Allen of Prentiss County and fourth alternate was Joy Powell of Lincoln County.

Stacie Stokley was also the winner of the Miss Photogenic award. Suzanne Stewart, of Winston County, was the winner of the Spirit of Miss Hospitality award.

The contestants spent the pageant week on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. The week was filled with fun activities, such as a City Tour, a Welcome Party at the home of Dr. Shelby Thames, an Island Celebration at the Lake Terrace Convention Center, and a Dessert Reception. Each of the 36 contestants was judged in the areas of Interview, Mississippi Speech Presentation, Little Black Dress/Commercial, and Evening Gown.

An estimated $450,000 was generated during the pageant week as people came to stay in area hotels and make purchases at local shops and restaurants.

The pageant is presented by the Hattiesburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, the University of Southern Mississippi and the City of Hattiesburg.
