Even though Shanteau does not have children yet, children hold a special place in her heart. She spends her free time working with terminally ill and special needs children. Shanteau is a volunteer at Mississippi’s world renowned Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital. She helps children deal with a wide variety of illnesses requiring long-term hospitalization and others who are mortally ill. Shanteau also volunteers at the Little Lighthouse, a Christian developmental center serving infants and children with special needs. She is a counselor at a crisis pregnancy center, offering guidance to young women about the responsibilities of child bearing and proper choices. Shanteau earned her bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies from the University of Southern Mississippi.
