Last night was my first experience attending the MS Teen/USA Pageant. I must say it was a very organized and well put together pageant. The host was wonderful! He did such a good job. The opening number was very cute but sexy at the same time. I liked how the older girls were in red and the younger girls wore white (they may do this every year). Jalin really stood out to me in this competition because she was wearing a red leather outfit. She looked amazing! The sets on-stage were very effective and looked good at the same time. I wasn't as impressed with Raegan as I was with Kendra. Kendra has received a great deal of negative energy so I was very eager to hear her and see her personality on stage. Raegan was very cute, and her brown dress was stylish - I was kind of hoping to see her red one from Miss Teen USA. She mentioned trying to get into a college in California studying fashion - best of luck to her. During Kendra's onstage time, she had a great sense of humor. I expected not to like her, but I really did. I liked her haircut and her first red velvet dress. The black dress she wore at the end was very very sexy. Kendra said she is getting married next month, and I wish her only the best.
When it came time for the teen results I may have only gotten 4 out of 10 for the teen, however all 4 were in the top 5 as well. I scored Courtney Ponder, Meredith Maginnis, and Anne Elise Parks well in both categories again. These three really stood out in evening gown. Anne Elise has the best on stage presence! Courtney Ponder was wearing a white dress that looked amazing on her. I also liked Jordan Wilkerson again - she came across as very teen. I agreed with everyone in the top 5 except for Paige Lancaster. I scored her high in swimsuit, I just didn't believe she had as good as stage presence in gown as she did in swimsuit. Her brown dress did look beautiful on her and made her stand out among ALL of the white dresses. I think I have most of the questions correct:
Jordan - Do you think young celebrities such as Lindsey Lohan have made an impact on today's teens, and what kind of an impact is that?
Poor thing, I felt really sorry for her. I think she had a good answer, she just froze on stage.
Courtney - Schools promote competition among athletics, do you think they should also promote academic competition?
She nailed this question in my opinion. I thought she did a really good job.
Anne Elise - How do you go about making big decisions?
She responded with a very heartfelt answer and appeared mature and teen at the same time.
Meredith - Other than parents who has made the largest impact on your life?
Her answer was about her sister, but it seemed a little too practiced in my opinion. She spoke well on stage.
Paige - Who is the best role model for teens in 2006?
She gave an ok answer, but did well with the question.
I was very happy with the teen results. Anne Elise well represent us well, and I believe she will do well at Miss Teen USA. She appeared not only beautiful on stage, but confident. She had a very graceful walk, and spoke well during the onstage question. Best of luck to her!!

Miss MS Teen USA 2007 - Anne Elise Parks
I felt pretty good about my Miss evaluations. I had seven out of the eight correct. I scored the same five really high in both categories - Katie, Alexis, Haley, Sarah, and Jalin. JoAnne and Joy both did very well, I just didn't feel they had the sparkle on stage. I was very impressed with Alexis. I do not know if she has done any other pageants (I know she has won MSU's Miss Maroon and White) but I could see her as MS Miss USA in another year or two! I am not singling Jalin out, however she did trip a little on her dress and it really surprised me. She wore her evening gown from Miss America and it looked perfect on her. I personally had 3 out of the final 5, but I can understand the judges' decision with JoAnne and Joy. The final questions were:
Joy - How do you define success?
She gave a pretty good answer, I just didn't like how she restated at the end, "that is how I define success"
Sarah - What is your opinion of plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons?
Sarah gave a really good answer and almost made me rethink my opinion on this subject.
JoAnne - What type of legacy do you want to leave behind?
Her answer was good, and she appeared well spoken.
Jalin - Thanksgiving is right around the corner, for what are you most thankful?
She gave a very heartfelt answer and did a great job.
Haley - What is one thing you love about Mississippi and will promote?
She showed her personality the best during the question. She gave a really good answer, and I thought her accent was very cute.
I had the exact same results as the judges. I knew as soon as I decided to go that Jalin was the one to beat. She has an incredible swimsuit and a very good height for Miss USA. I believe with her already holding two state titles that she will do very well with this one also. Her Miss America experience will help her a great deal. I believe Sarah is the one to beat for next year. Good luck to Jalin and I hope she brings us the Miss USA crown!!
