Subject: New Miss Minnesota Directors

Is it common for state directors to step down while a family member competes in that state? Aren't most state directors older?

Former Miss Frazee, Vergas co-director of Miss Minnesota

Jennifer Hagman

Jennifer Hesby Hagman, Miss Vergas 1991 and Miss Frazee 1992, has teamed up with Lori Ziebarth, Coon Rapids, as Co-Executive Directors of the Miss Minnesota organization for the 2007 year.

The two will help Miss Minnesota 2006, Nicole Swanson, prepare for the Miss America pageant held in Las Vegas the week of Jan. 30.

They will also play a large part in the organizing of the Miss Minnesota pageant June 15-16 when 16 candidates vie for the crown of Miss Minnesota 2007.

"And we do this while we take care of our families and work a full-time job," said Hagman. "It's a lot of evening and weekend work."

The two have been chosen by the Miss Minnesota organization board to fill the position created when the past executive director Kim Knuttila stepped down.

"Her sister won a local pageant," added Hagman, "and to keep all fairness, she can not have any contact with the organization."

Both are not new to the organization,

each already holding a position. Hagman is the volunteer coordinator and Ziebarth is the business manager.

"All members are 100 percent volunteers," she added. "No one is paid for the work they do for the Miss Minnesota organization."

Hagman has been responsible in previous years for coordinating the volunteers for the events that take place during pageant week of the Miss Minnesota competition.

Hagman, the daughter of the late Frank Hesby and Linda Hesby, Frazee, makes her home in New Richmond, Wis., just across the Minnesota border, she adds.

A 1991 Frazee High School graduate, she is married to Jeff and they have two children, Jessica, 4, and Jacob, 2. She has worked as an office equipment lease representative for US Bank for 12 years.

"This will be a transition year for Lori and I," Hagman said, "and each year after. We will be sharing the position as long as Kim's sister continues to win pageants, and Kim supports her."

[> Call me crazy, but doesnt it seem likely that this girl who is related to the \'former\' director just might be more likely to win the state title? -- Arent the other girls worried about competing against her for fear she will win for political reasons? How are they safeguarding against that?, 15:06:30 09/30/06 Sat [1]
