Subject: The New Miss Austin, MN




Tina played her own arrangement of Great Balls of Fire on the piano for her talent, and her Platform is 'Adopt One Until there are None.' As Miss Austin, Tina will receive a $3,500 scholarship at the end of her year of service, and was also the recipient of the $500 Jaycees Community Service Award and $250 2nd Place Weyerhaeuser Academic Acheivement Award. In addition to her Miss Austin appearances and community service, Tina will go on to compete in the Miss Minnesota Pageant in June.

First Runner Up was Tricia Nichols, who wowed the audience with her classical vocal performance of "Voi, che Sapete." Tricia's platform was 'Fit for Life,' and she receives a $550 scholarship. Tricia also won the $350 1st Place Weyerhaeuser Academic Acheivement Award.

Second Runner Up was Anna Dalager, who played a beautiful classial violin piece for her talent. Fittingly, Anna's platform focused on incorporating the Arts into education. She receives a $350 scholarship. Anna also won the $100 Kiwanis Congeniality Award.

Ashley Heiny performed an elegant and moving lyrical dance for her talent, and her platform focused on the benefits of extra-curricular activities. With her winning essay, Ashley was awarded the $500 Riverland Community College Foundation scholarship. Ashley also receives a $150 educational scholarship.

Jackie Anderson sang a broadway favorite, All That Jazz, for her talent, and her platform focused on the importance of accepting other cultures. Jackie receives a $150 educational scholarship.

Sarah Stuhr sang the fun and humorous song 'Philosophy' from 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown.' Sarah's platform focused in improving literacy in our children. She receives a $150 educational scholarship.
