- Hartman Park 1979 or 1980 -- Daniel Epeneter, 04:06:18 06/28/08 Sat [1]
I was trying to verify a story I always heard growing up. I played little league baseball in Redmond WA (yes the Microsoft Redmond WA). The park was named "Hartman Park". The little league fields (where I played) were located behind the legion/babe ruth fields. There was a large hill with a rock wall between the little league fields and the legion field. Legend has it (i must've heard this story from 5 or 10 kids) that Darryl Strawberry was there is high school senior year and hit a home run out of the park, up the rock cliff and onto the pitches mound of the little league field. This would definitely be possible, but also amazing for a 17yr old (Probably 525 feet). Was wondering if anyone knew that story. At any rate, after I got older and could digest the length I always thought that would have been absolutely something else to watch in person. A high school kid just crushing a fastball basically into another quadrant of a gigantic park).

Always # 1 -- Amanda Q, 00:06:46 12/18/07 Tue [1]
Like so many other fans I followed your career, and have too been a Met,Dodger,Giant, and Yankee fan because of you, and in the process I fell in Love with The Yankees. I remember the first day I met you, I was just a kid 15 or 16, and you called me over to say hi. I had a gold charm made that said Mets #18,(as I did with every other team as well)You were so sweet, I couldn't even believe you were talking to me. There have been so many times that I've seen you either at a game or a show and you always took time to talk to me, thank you. I wish you the best always. God Bless you.

Strawman's 1987 Topps All-Star card was the 1st card i purchased back then. I'm now 30 and still an avid card collector with millions of cards. Darryl is still my #1! He is an insperation to all who's been through high ups and low downs. He was my hero as a child, and now that he has found faith,he is my hero today! Thanks for the memories Strawberry!

Strawberry Fields Forever -- Sherry Shelton, 23:16:21 08/02/07 Thu [1]
I remember the great big headlines of our local newspaper in Kingsport Tennessee, when Darryl started playing for the Kingsport Mets: STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER. It was an exciting time in Kingsport. I stumbled upon the Darryl Strawberry Foundation website by looking at players who had been suspended from baseball for drug use. (Interested because my current fav player, Josh Hamilton, had been suspended and is making a comeback). I am SO glad to see what Strawberry is doing. The fact that he supports children and families affected by autism is especially important to me because I have a twin sister whose youngest son has an autistic spectrum disorder.
THANK YOU DARRYL STRAWBERRY FOR CARING AND TAKING ACTION. MAY GOD BLESS YOU.

- Darryl My main MAN -- Walter Alex Mitchell, 00:58:47 12/22/06 Fri [1]
Mr. Darryl Eugene Strawberry has been my fav. athlete ever since I was a young boy! I live in Milwaukee wi so Inever seen him until one day I watched a Mets game on cable. That swing is what caught my eye! It was a work of art! So smooth and cool! I pretended to be him! Loved every at bat! I don't care what he does that is bad, he will always be my favorite athlete of all time. I pray he has gotten his life together! If he hadn't gotten in to all that trouble, it would be him chasin the home run record! By leaving the Mets and goin out west back to his home, was the big mistake! I named my son after him because I still think he is the coolest guy! It will be destiny for his son to get drafted by the bucks so I can meet him in the crowd get a picture and an autograph! I'm the biggest Darryl Strawberry fan alive! Darryl make sure DJ keeps up the good work!

- Great site -- Mets Forever Man, 16:09:11 12/16/06 Sat [1]
Great site. Thanks. Darryl was our man in NY and always will be loved by the New Yorkers. I caught him recently at the Mets Mania show in Secaucus and he looked great. Healthy & like he could play ball today. He was so nice to my daughter and talked to all the fans. It means a lot to fans when someone like Darryl takes time to sign autographs and take pictures with them. Good luck Darryl in your life and hopefully you will go a long way.
Hope to see you working with the Mets again someday in some capacity.

It's about time -- Danny, 18:21:05 12/01/06 Fri [1]
It's about time someone put up a site dedicated to the strawman for his diehard fans. I co-sign what everyone else here has said as far as Darryl getting his life together and helping others. Nothing was more exciting for me in sports than watching Strawberry connect for a Homerun. Man do I miss that Mets team! Thanks for the Sight.

to Darryl Strawberry -- Evie from New Jersey (happy), 15:16:50 10/24/06 Tue [1]
Darryl if you read these messages just know that we love you for what you are trying to accomplish. You made New York stand up and take notice when you came to the plate and filled our summers with excitement just watching you.
And now you are taking a different direction with your life. I wish so that you were still playing ball, I think you would still be awsome, but your fans will support you in your new projects. You are a survivor and will help others survive too.
I am looking forward to bidding on some stuff and also buying your DVD. Good luck to you always. You are the man who made NY Baseball fans proud to be fans.

- I agree -- MetsFan86, 09:55:28 10/09/06 Mon [2]
i agree Darryl has been punished enough on his own. The press needs to lay off. The fans still love him as was very obvious at Shea in August. I wish Darryl the best and hope that he can finally live in peace with his family and be proud of his time as a ball player. He was the best!
Good luck Darryl in your new path of trying to help other young people.

Darryl has been through it all in his life and thank god he is finally at peace with his life. If anyone can make a young player turn around it is Darryl. He chose many a bad road and hopefully can make that into something positive now. God Bless you Darryl. And you have many many fans who still think you are a great man.

Darryl if you are reading this we fans love you. You stole our hearts in NYC many years ago with your awsome swing and saved our butts many a time with your bat. How could we ever forget that? Yes you had gone astray for awhile, and yes your broke our hearts by going to LA, but now you are back better than ever, maybe down a different path, but nonetheless better because of it.
Welcome home bro! We love ya man!
