Subject: Outdoor Team Name: Undecided

Everyone:

Some of the guys from greece have deep loyalties to certain teams that compete with AEK Athens. Thus, they don't necessarily want to complete under those colors. This is totally understandable. The name was never set in stone. I like the team name because it represents more than just a team, the colors and the symbol are bad-ass and its easy to change Athens to Baltimore. But the indoor team is called AEK Baltimore and has bad-ass black jerseys, so I am happy.

The outdoor team name is thus open for discussion. One sensible suggestion, via Teddy M., is Hellas Baltimore.

Mike,

Were, or are we planning to use the indoor jerseys for the outdoor team? I assumed originally that we were going to. I suggest that we do use the indoor jerseys for outdoor.

Thanks,

Devin

[> [> we won't if the name and colors are different, but it won't cost you more Devine. Our current plan is to get a sponsor to pay the league fees and the cost of the kits. If that doesn't work, then its back to the the drawing board. In such a case, it may make sense to use the jerseys from the indoor team; that way, we would only have to pay for ten more instead of twenty-one. We also need away colors for the outdoor team (its a league requirement). -- Mike Murphy (Outdoor), 10:08:06 10/26/06 Thu [1] (59.sub-70-195-160.myvzw.com/70.195.160.59)

[> [> Yeah, I though about that. The problem is I can't think of a natural way to link Greece up with the other countries. Hellas and Europe United is long and cheesy. Give it some thought Matt, but remember: we are pitching this to our potential sponors as a greek team because we are targeting the greek business community for sponsorship moeny -- if we get too far away from that we lose our hook. Another possibility is to just name the team after our primary sponsor. -- Mike Murphy (Outdoor), 10:19:31 10/26/06 Thu [1] (59.sub-70-195-160.myvzw.com/70.195.160.59)

Can you not change the name and that way extend the number of businesses you can approach for sponsorship?

Visar- yes, we cold do that. The team has 12 greeks and greek americans on the roster, but we also have a guy from Kosovo, a guy from england and a guy from Portugal, not to mention six americans of other ethnicities. The original idea was for a greek team, but this is clearly evolving into a more international effort. I would say if someone could find a non-greek sponsor, the greek guys would more than happily play under a non-greek name (maybe not more than happily, but they will tolerate it :-) ). Before anyone suggest it though, there already is a team named Mundo F.C.

Once/if we get a sponsor, everything else will fall into place. I doubt the sponsor would care about the name. Like Mike suggested, we could incorporate the sponsor's name into the team name and then everyone wins.
