We have laws on sex offenders and other "predators" not for their comfort or safety, but our own. Do these laws actually protect us? Oh yeah we can go in the computer and see how many live close to us. Or get restraining orders on certain people and when they come after us what do we do?? Oh yeah we can throw the paper at them. Great Protection! Some laws do in fact make no sense, but some can/do protect us and at least make us aware of our surroundings.
