Kate Voegele One of Three National Finalists in Pantene Pro-Voice
Competition
Cleveland, June 15—Singer/songwriter Kate Voegele of Bay Village is one of
three national finalists out of 1250 entrants, in the Pantene Pro-Voice
Competition for up and coming female musicians. The contest, which is
sponsored in part by MTV, YM Magazine and Gibson Guitars, continues during
the month of July, as the three finalists will be featured on MTV and VH-1
after receiving hair and makeup treatments, and fans can vote online to
determine a grand prize winner. That winner will get to bring their band to
New York City in August to play a show with Ashanti, Paula Rubio, Fefe
Dobson and Skye Sweetnam. For more information, please visit
www.pro-voice.com.
Singer/songwriter and 17-year old phenomenon Kate Voegele has an industry
buzz going like no one in Northeast Ohio in quite some time, let alone
anyone her own age in any part of the world. Voegele recently showcased for
some major labels in Los Angeles and as a result, has garnered interest from
more label executives as well as upper level managers and attorneys in the
music industry.
Haven’t seen what the fuss is all about yet? You’ll have two opportunities
to see Kate Voegele and her band perform in the coming weeks at Scene
Pavilion on the West bank of the Flats. On Friday, June 18, Voegele will
perform at 6 p.m. for Wings on the West Bank, opening for Better Than Ezra
and the Gin Blossoms. Then on Saturday, July 10 she will headline the Local
Artist Showcase at the Pavilion, which includes some of the finest musical
acts in Northeast Ohio. For more information on both shows, please visit
www.hob.com.
Kate Voegele recently performed an acoustic set during the South By
Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas. Kate’s show was part of the
“Women in Rock” showcase, and she has continued to wow everyone that sees
her perform, resulting in an industry buzz like few her age get to
experience.
Voegele was recently featured in Demo Diaries, the Taxi Navigator and in
Cleveland Magazine. Chorus and Verse, an online community for up and coming
musical acts, as well as www.ohioonline.com, Kings of A&R, Fresh Tracks
Music, and Music Connection ran pieces on her in the past few months. Also,
Kate has shared the stage with the Bangles, Virginia Coalition and Mindy
Smith.
Hearing Kate Voegele perform, you might wonder what parents are feeding
their kids these days. Not only does the 17-year-old have a great voice,
she has the songwriting ability of someone twice her age. In her debut
release, The Other Side, Voegele combines thoughtful lyrics with
unforgettable hooks to create a masterful and melodic acoustic rock project.
Fans of this genre can easily formulate a comparison to Michelle Branch,
Vanessa Carlton, or even a young Patty Griffin.
Following the release of The Other Side last summer, Voegele and her band
performed at amphitheaters and clubs in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Second
stage appearances have included shows with John Mayer, Patty Griffin and
Aimee Mann. Every show afforded Kate and her band the opportunity to
impress the musical community, and as a result word began to spread
regionally and nationally that there is something special here.
