Australia's The Sleepy Jackson is Luke Steele (vocals/guitar), Malcolm Clark (drums/vocals), J Cortez (bass/vocals, and Jules Cortez (guitar).

2003 will be forever known as the year the band took their music to the world and the world listened. Having already established a loyal following locally in their home of Australia, the band released their much anticipated debut album Lovers to widespread acclaim in the US in July, followed up with two successful tours supporting My Morning Jacket and The Polyphonic Spree.

The critics applauded the band: Rolling Stone proclaimed Lovers "one of the 50 best albums of 2003" and Neil Strauss of The New York Times rated it the #6 album of the year. Back in Australia, they received 5 nominations for the 2003 ARIA Awards.
