The beaches are very quiet, and nice at night,but not deserted. You will see others walking from time to time, so you needn't feel anxious as you might on a deserted beach at night.

For sunscreen, but it on well before (15-20 min) going out in the sun. It takes awhile to become effective, so if you put it on as you go out, you will overestimate your protection and be more likely to burn yourself.
