I just got back late lat night from a quick (unfortunately) 3 day trip to Sanibel. It was gorgeous as always. No rain and clear blue skies. We stayed at King's Crown....great location and nice unit. My 14 year old son and I met one of my best high school friends and her 14 year old daughter. They live in Boca Raton and rarely go to the beach ( I Have never understood that.) It was their 1st trip to Sanibel and they loved it also. We had a wonderful time shelling, although it wasn't as good as the last time we were there a year and a half ago. We went to Bowman's Beach, Turner Beach and the Lighthouse. The water and beach were the best at Bowman's and we enjoyed being in the ocean there. The Lighthouse had a great deal of red algae and there were dead fish and the smell was not so nice. We did not want to get in the ocean there, but there were die hard shellers that were out in the water. Oh and we saw a lot of dolphin activity at Bowman's. Everything along Captiva was quite nice. It was pretty hot during the day but really nice at night to sit on the lanai. I always get eaten by the bugs and this time was no exception. I never saw mosquitos so I assume it was the no seeums on the screened lanai. As much as I hate bites, it was certainly worth it just to be there.
We ate at Island Cow twice (we love the variety their menu offers), McTee's (always our favorite), the Bubble Room (had to take our friends to see it), Mad Hatter (our first time and we thought it was pricey for what we got but wanted to try it) and our last meal was at the Mucky Duck for a final grouper sandwich and a wave at the Web Cam.
We sadly headed home but hope it won't be too long before we return. I just love the feel there.
