Great place and VERY close to the beach. The only issue, as you already are aware, is no pool cage. Over the past 15+ years, I've been to Captiva in every month of the year, January through December, and a LOT of those stays have been on Laika. For my money, you just can't beat Laika or Wightman. You can expect to have a great stay!

HOWEVER, the lack of a screened-in pool area CAN be problematic. Bugs immediately come to mind, particularly during the rainy season, but it's the critters (mostly raccoons) that can be an even greater nuisance. These things don't seem to have any problem walking right up to the edge of swimming pools (even walking down one step), drinking the water, washing themselves or their food in the water, and/or defecating in it. As a result, I prefer single-family homes that have caged pools. YMMV, of course.
