How nice to be able to surprise your mother, I'm sure it will be a trip you'll never forget. I think the beach at Gulfside City Park would be perfect, not a lot of walking to get to the beach, it has picnic tables for her to rest and public bathrooms. Have always found shells there, on the beach and in the water. If you have a handicapped card parking is easy at any of the public beaches. A lot of people like Bowman's Beach but it can be a walk to get to the beach, we took my mother and it was difficult for her. Check www.thebaitbox.com for tidal predictions. The best time is 1 hr before to 1 hr after low tide. You'll have a very good low tide June 4th. You can find shells anytime, the only time I didn't find any was when the gulf looked like a smooth lake. Make a stop at the visitor center and pick up a Sunny Day Guide it will have tide charts and a map with the beaches. Everybody likes to go to the Lighthouse. Just a reminder leave those occupied shells at the beach. Don't rush just enjoy the moment.
