Subject: June Trip Report

Our Sanibel vacation was great as usual - only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer!

Song of the Sea was an outstanding place to stay as usual. Rooms were still very neat & well kept. I am always impressed with the clean bathrooms. Even before the remodeling - tubs have always been so clean. You just can't beat the breakfast "al fresco" in the mornings. Just wish they would bring back the patries from a few years ago - miss those. We found out the bike trailers for babies are available next door at Sanibel Inn - no charge! Glad we didn't lug ours down there.

We had some great meals on the trip. Hit our usual favorite spots.

Hunry Heron great food at a great price - always lots of kids - so didn't have to worry about the 1 year old being too loud! Funny thing - it was so loud in there the night we went & he slept through the first part of the meal in all the noise!

Matzaluna is always our first dinner spot on the island. I just love their wood fired pizzas! Always have enough for lunch the next day.

Island Cow - we went for lunch & dinner on different days. We had forgotten they also serve breakfast - gotta try that one year. Loved the muffins before the meal. Cheese grits with fish is always a plus. Had our same waiter - always so nice there. Tried the tuna sandwich for lunch - WOW. Awesome.

Speaking of tuba for lunch - the pool bar at Sanibel Inn makes a mean Tuna Salad served with Pita Bread - YUM YUM!

Last night we went to RC Otters on Captiva - always enjoy the live music. We got over there late, so didn't get to watch the Sunset at Captiva - that is always a great experience. It stormed on the way back to Sanibel - wow, what a rain that was! Good Key Lime Pie at RC Otters as well.

Dairy Queen - service wasn't as good as in years past. Workers the day we went were pretty SLOW & now real concerned with customer service! The poor lady in front of me who was waiting on the guy to make 4 blizzards - by the time she had all 4 - it was like mush! HA! But,I tell ya, you can't beat their Vanilla Cone dipped in chocolate!

Tried a new place this time & will be sure to return. PIZZA PASTA on Periwinkle - is AWESOME. I loved the Fettucine (spelling?) & my husband loved his spaghetti! OMG - it was good stuff!

We didn't got to Jacaranda this time - mainly because when we were there in January - the service was LOUSY! Did miss those crab cakes!

Cheeburger, Cheeburger was awesome as usual! That has got to be the best burger I have ever eaten! Well, worth the wait - even though the anticipation of that juicy burger is torture! Got a kick out of some 12-13 yr. olds that had eaten the big burger there - they were so funny getting their picture made!

We didn't make it to the Blue Giraffe - but will probably try that next time.

Shopping - They are remodeling the Tahitian Gardens - my favorite store is the one in the corner, can't think of the name....something & somthing (anyone know that?)
Perwinkle Place - love the CHEESE NOOK, LIFE IS GOOD, & that chocolate store - YUM!

We bike the island - not as much as we wanted - but the baby didn't care for that bike helmet too much - hope that gets better!

Shelling was the worst ever! How dare Sanibel not have any shells! Only saw scallops & other "regular" shells. Nothing real exciting - so that was disapppointing - seaweed was everywhere - gross stuff. Saw a starfish - one lady found like 8 sanddollars - how cool. Saw these nasty "blobs" several times - would like to know what those are - gross looking things!

Overall, it was a great trip. Couldn't do as much walking or biking with the baby with us - but I guess that will get better. Loved just being at the pool at Song of the Sea.

I have the say the staff at Song of the Sea is so good. I just wish I could figure out the mystery of room 4101! In January they were re-decorating it - totally different all the other rooms - wonder if some lucky person got to purchase the room or somethng??

Sorry this post was so LONG, but it was fun re-living my week in paradise! I guess the countdown begins again........
