I've been asked this question a lot over the years actually, and you know what? Less than half of the vampires in the lot are gay/bi. I'm not sure if I really approached the issue in story much, but I never intended for them to all be gay. While there is a heavy gay theme and there are many gay characters in the story, ALL vampires aren't gay, or even remotely so. The averages aren't any different than in real life. They were all 'human' once, after all.

As for the main characters, the only gay boys in the lot are the three couples. Taryn and Justin, Trevor and Michael, Dion and Dylan. The others are very straight indeed. (Bryson, Gyro, Jenna, Rain, Jun, Doc, Kid, and Max) The only times this has been addressed has been through Jenna's back story, Bryson's beginnings with his sire Amanda, and Gyro's escapades in the clubs. Also with Rain bringing Darren back to the lot to possibly be 'changed'.

Naturally, this is a gay story, and Taryn and Justin are the main two characters driving the story, so that's going to be the big focus. But there are definitely plenty of straight characters in this story to balance things out. And they all have a high level of importance as to how things turn out in the end.

But...as in real life...the straight boys never have to be pointed out for their sexualities. Even when they're the 'oddity' here. :)
