Subject: GFD Question #8 - What is up with Zero and the 'circles'???

Hmmmm........

Ok, let me see what I can say without giving away too much.

'Zero', as most of you may already know, is a key elemtn in Justin finding out what the 'Vampire Dawn' is all about. At the end of all things, what Zero has taught him will have great significance as to how the story plays out. (Crazy as that sounds) As well as a bunch of other 'lessons' that Justin has gotten every chapter from day one.

The 'circles' that he talks about comes from an overly sensitive understanding of patterns in the way things work. He recognizes patterns and designs before they happen, depending on all of the current situations and provocations that are given to him at the moment. For eample, when Justin goes to see him for the first time, he already knows the entire conversation before it even happens. This is because he knows who Justin is, and what he's been through. And by following a certain path or pattern, he knows exactly what it is going to lead to before Justin even has a chance to participate.

The circles come from Zero's psychotic ability to see the beginning and the end simultaneously. He can witness the falling dominoes and see the design, leading to it's inevitable end, without error. What he CAN'T see, however...is the chance for things to change. Or to suddenly fly off of the chosen path. And somewhere in there is the key to the vampire dawn that he was never able to understand. He cannot see all the paths at once, because the more he tries, the more predictable the paths become. The beginning sets a chain reaction in motion, and there is no choice but to end up in a certain spot...the beginning. And that's the circle. He can't see beyond the circles. The more he looks for an answer, the smaller the circles become, and therefore, the more predictable the outcome.

Eventually, the search for a deeper meaning drove him crazy, because he was so consumed with the 'cause and effect' part of the circle. But Justin will have to look beyond that to find the truth. If you read "GFD: Revelations" parts 5 and 6, as well as thoughts on 'Rage' later on in the "Nights Eternal" chapter...you might find out more about what Zero is trying to tell Justin, and how it will help him...if he's detined to lose that which he finds most valuable.

I can't really go much into detail on this one without spoiling future scenes from this chapter and the next...but I can tell you that the 'secret' has been given to Justin in every chapter since the very first one. (I made sure to design the entire series that way), and that everything that you've read up to this point will have a definite impact on how the story ends. Good....or bad.

Zero's circles are created by the prison we build for ourselves each and every single day. And once the 'Jeweler' is more involved in the story, you will see a bit more clearly how deeply the Vampire Dawn theory goes, and how hard it might be for most people to grasp until they are led into the light.

Hehehe, yeah...it wasn't easy writing this chapter at ALL! ::Giggles::
