The Elders in "GFD" are supposedly 'hidden' away, usually in underground lairs and protected from the rest of the vampire population. So are many writers of the vampire scriptures (Comicality included), and others. They don't show themselves, but their main purpose is to keep an eye on the vampire population in their selected areas, and maintain some kind of balance with 'human' politics as well. To vampires, they're almost like a cross between the C.I.A. and the Catholic church. If you can imagine that, hehehe!

Certain ideas that were brought up in early chapters of "GFD" about this balance will definitely be adressed in the "Exodus" chapter coming up, as it does have an impact as to why a modern day 'Mimic' being born into darkness was suddenly deemed necessary. But that's further down the road.

As for worrying about the existence of a Mimic, those rumors come around all the time. (Like they did with Zero, and countless others making the same claim) To them, it's like reporting a UFO or something. Until the rumors are confirmed, there's no need for them to take any real action. But...now that Justin is being recognized in the streets, and Rage is making a mess everywhere he goes, they are sure to treat this as more than a false alarm in the time to come. Which will ALSO have a major impact on this chapter and the next. ::Wicked Grin::

But yes, Elders are in the background, they most certainly can be halflifes, and good or bad doesn't really come into question with most of their decisions. It's more a matter of what needs to be done to protect the balance.

After all...you saw what happened to Jarrod in the IceZone when his underground radio frequency threatened to expose their kind...
