Subject: Monitoring urls an application access?

There's this program which accesses some info via internet and I want to know the syntax it uses to communicate to the webpage. Is there any application out there that can read the exact code this program sends over the internet? I'm sorry if these are not the best words but english is not my native language. Thanks in advance for any help.
