To all the baboons that don't accept this contract. Kiss the money good bye. I've been with the D.O.C. for 19 plus years. I've been here when AFSCME was taken over by MCOFU. Let me enlightened you what will happen if we don't take this contract. You people who want to hold out and think the state will give in. They won't. Right now we are in mediation and have been offered a descent offer. If it goes to arbirtration(non binding), the arbitrator will rule in the states favor. I know!! The arbitrator will review the proposal/offer and will look at us as greeded bastards. You whiners who are crying over sick time have to be major abusers. To get 6 sick days, 1 additional day then we already have is a plus. Beleive me I use my sick time too. But lets face it, Football season, Baseball season shouldn't classified as sick season. Suck it up and pick and choose what game you want to bang for in the future. We who have kids at home, you'll just have to put the kids as priority, verse the Stanley Cup, Super Bowl etc., etc. Like I said I know the game. If we don't take this offer. WE ARE DONE. Look at the big picture. Time is going by and retro gets farther and farther out of reach. If you think holding out for a sick time lanuage change, it won't happen. The state wants us not to take this offer. They will sit back and laugh all the way to arbitration, (at least 2 years) When arbitration comes and the abitrator rules in their favor we would already have 2 contract periods pass by. Do you think they will award us back pay for 6 years? If you do, then you should start selling the shit your smoking, because that's the only way your getting money. Listen fellow officers, I work the same beat you do. I am not a Captains kid,I tolerate mangement and I am a C.O who uses/abuses my sick time just like the rest of you. But to not take this contract and hold out, we are going to lose. BIG TIME!! I have at least 10 more years to do and look to the future for better things. But it takes money, not sick time. Speak up and tell the executive board allow the membership to vote.
