Subject: Keep Hockey in Lowell!

I keep hearing disturbing things....every Lowell hockey fan knows the troubles that they had last year. First, McCallum put the team up for sale, and for awhile, it didn't seem like there would be any takers....when New Jersey bought the team, there was much rejoicing. Finally, we had an NHL team that owned us, and they actually seemed to have a vested interest in keeping the team in Lowell. I've heard, numerous times lately, that the long-term plan is to move the AHL team to Trenton, which is where their ECHL team plays now.

Now, I know they had an "attendance clause". What that clause is, I don't know. But how can they expect people to automatically jump behind a new logo, new players and an entire new team? I was at Opening Night, against Albany, which is where the old Lowell guys went, and I was cheering for Albany! And I certainly wasn't the only one.

And now, UMass Lowell is considering moving from Div. 1 Hockey East down to ECAC Div. 1 or worse, Div. 2. Having UML be a Hockey East school is a HUGE draw. It's a great school, and it's well priced. And those guys are treated like GODS at that school.

Lowell is an amazing city. There's everything you could want, and thensome. Why don't any of the teams that have played here want to stay? Not one team has invested ANYTHING in trying to keep the team alive, and that includes the players! You used to see the Lock Monsters out and about all over Lowell. Now, the only time you ever see the Devils is when they're on the ice. Please guys, have a little bit of respect for the city you play in and for your fans. They're the ones who support you and cheer for you.

It would be a sad day in Lowell if the team was moved. The City Council and the citizens of Lowell have made huge strides in cleaning up our city, and making it a desirable place to come...don't waste all of their efforts...
