- times for the 24th -- shawn, Tuesday, October 20, 09:46am [2]
I was wondering on times for saturday the 24th and was also wondering if the payout will be increased since we will be the only track still running.
I was also thinking about next year already. I have not been able to attend any of the club meetings due to scheduling conflicts on monday evenings but im still concerned with the club. i was wanting to make a suggestion on maybe running on sunday afternoons next season. It's just hard to compete against powri on a friday or saturday. They seldom have any races on sunday afternoons and shepps have been running on sundays north of springfield and have been doing well with car counts but not many people want to make the drive from southern illinois. anyways just a idea

He had a Great facility when he made K&L Raceway, it was a big hit. He had a full house every race night. My respect to kenny as he steps up and be's part of the racing community once again. Congrats and Good luck tonight at the meeting you have my support. Looks as if Wayne city will be a Big Racing Cummunity in the near future!

- Resignation as President -- Jimmy Kemp, Saturday, April 11, 10:03am [1]
Greetings,
It is with regret that I must inform you all of my resignation as President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Wayne Co. Speedway effective April 6th, 2009. I have enjoyed being president at the track and have tried to go above and beyond in my attempts to bring the track back to life. The track has recieved more support from the drivers, fans, and area businesses and I feel it has made a difference.
The reason for the resignation is beginning May 4th, I will be working twelve hour shifts with rotating weekends. Unforutnately, my nineteen years of senority does not factor in while creating the new schedule and I am forced to work every other weekend. As I am sure you understand, this new schedule makes it impossible to continue doing all the things that I had previously done around the track.
It has been a pleasure getting involved back in the club, meeting old racing friends I hadn't seen in years and making several new ones.
Ernie Holloway has taken over as president and the website has been updated with his contact information.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Kemp

- Conflicts in Kart schedules with Coulterville -- Kurt Hermann, Wednesday, March 18, 02:07pm [5]
Jimmy I thought I would make you aware of a scheduling conflict with the track in coulterville:
I have noticed that there are a couple schedule conficts within a couple southern Illinois tracks running this year. I thought it would be a good idea to bring this to the attention of the tracks. I think I may have a possible compromising solution so neither will loose karts.
I was on RockBranch’s (Coulterville) new website (which looks great BTW) and notice that they are only running 5 of their races for the points. I also view the schedule for Wayne City to see when their 5 races that they will be running are. Now I know that nothing is perfect and that Coulterville is running everyother week no matter what….but here are the conflicts I noticed.
1.) August 15th is a RBS points race AND Wayne City is racing
2.) September 12th is a RBS MONEY race and Wayne City is racing
I think I have a compromise on both ends that can keep counts good at both tracks on important nights:
1.) I think RBS could compromise by still staying open on the 15th of August but make it a regular night instead of a points night and move the points night to a different week around that time.
2.) I think Wayne City could move its September date to a different week in September so that it does not conflict and take karts from RBS on their money race.
By doing these 2 things WCS could have more karts on their August race and those that want to run points at RBS don’t have to miss out on a monthly wayne city race if they so choose BUT RBS locals could still have a place to race (just no points that night). And RBS could not have its kart count on a money race affected in September If WCS would move its monthly race to another week in September.
Just a thought I thought I would throw out there.

- National Club Affiliation -- Knell, Tuesday, March 17, 06:27am [1]
A National Micro Sprint Association has opened up with a set of rules that fit on one page (Reasonable Rules)Coles County Speedway was the first track to join this National organization for the 2009 season. No they are not paying a million dollars per race or anything, but there is a point fund being paid at the end of the year, and any Driver that wants to join gets in on it. As I understand it there is no cost for track affiliation, and the driver cost is a one time fee of 50.00 for 2009. Any driver entered would then be running for a national title and point fund money at the end of the season. I personally feel for sponsorship possibilities for both drivers and tracks, that this is a no brainer and many tracks and drivers should join. The cost of putting on a POWRI race is 4500.00 and the payout is not great for the cost of travel. With this National organization you can run for a national title with minimal travel, or you can travel as much as you wish as they get more tracks. Remember, all National titles look the same on paper to a sponsor.I would think Wayne County Speedway would gain running on Friday nights because people could run there on Friday and Coles County on Saturday Night, or you could run the powri races as well and be running for two National titles. One thing is for sure it can only help the tracks car count.

I am posting this prayer request because I am a true believer that the strength in numbers has profound effects.
My friends 4 yr old son has been sick for the better part of a month. Initially the physicians thought that it was pneumonia and treated it as such. After several rounds of antibiotics the symptoms just kept coming back. They admitted him to a St. Louis childrens hospital and then put him in isolation for the possibility of Tuberculosis. After many tests they are still unable to find out what is causing him to have a fever, sometimes as high as 103F. Once again after treating the symptoms, they are still unable to determine what the causes of his fever and sickness is. This coming Monday 3/2/09, he will undergo a biopsy of the lymphnodes around his lungs to rule out lymphoma which is the third most common cancer in kids.
Several of us on this site have kids whether young or older and I can not imagine, being a father myself, of the fear of the unknown and worst case scenario that the family is now going thru.
The childs name is Lucas and he is still very full of energy but keeps asking his mom and dad what the doctors are going to do to him. He is full of life and is a HUGE Tony Stewart fan, although his mom and dad don't find racing very fascinating. I have been over to their house and turned on the race and he will climb up beside me a set as still as a bird and watch every bit of the race without losing interest. Sometimes I find that hard to do myself.
Please, Please, Please keep him in your prayers that he will be lifted up and the symptoms will cease and the physicians will not find a thing wrong with him. Thank you for your time and may God bless each and everyone of you and your families.
Tracy Fenton
