Your RPG needs to look decent on every single screen resolution out there. According to counter statistics from my previous RPG...

800x6004764%47.81
1024x7684712%47.29
1280x1024195%1.96
1152x864181%1.82
640x48068%0.68
Other Resolution44%0.44

Okay, those stats were based on around 10,000 hits. There is probably quite a bit of error there mainly because I visited my site many times a day, and because of the counter counting each of these visits (at school and at home) there is bound to be some error. I probably had about 1,000 hits attributed to me at both school and home. I normally use the screen resolution of 1024x768, though I visited it once or twice with a resolution of 800x600.

My point? You need to design a site that fits all resolutions. With my old screen (that could only really do 640x480), there were a lot of sites that I could not visit simply because I couldn't find the navigation. Your site needs to look best in 800x600 and 1024x768, but it also needs to be usable in 640x480. I've seen layouts that looked great in 800x600, but looked like crap in 1024x768 and higher.

Yeah, I know it's a big order to design for all different resolutions (And then if you want to worry about webtv...), but it'll be worth it in the long run. You could always design for the two main resolutions, and then do a noframes version that would work for all (since you're asking about resolutions, I'm assuming that you'll probably use frames).

Good luck!
