In reply to: An ER note should be fine 's message, "Re: Can anybody tell me about any cases that involved sick time use, and the outcome" on 20:47:32 01/18/07 Thu

An SL-2 note can be a pain in the ass sometimes. An sl-2 note must say that you were unable to work because " your family member was seriously ill and in need of your care"
The language is clear. The problem is in getting your doctor to write the note exactly as the contract stipulates. Sometimes you're better off getting a note for yourself, saying you were sick rather than trying to get a proper sl-2 note. Your best bet though is to sit down with your doctor or your kid's doctor and show him exactly what constitutes an exceptable note. If he gives you a hard time find a new doctor. This will be a long career if you have to fight about sick notes every time you're out.
