I am proud to say that Maine's Premier Pageant Forum is quickly becoming Maine's Board of choice. I am thankful to all of you who come here with positive thoughts,your wonderful posts and words of encouragement to the new and experienced contestants and people involved in the Maine pageant system. This board will remain a safe haven to those who wish to voice their opinions and post messages. Subject: ThingsTO DO and NOT TO DO at a photo shoot. Author: Stewart Smith ( Moderator ) (Hope this helps) [Edit] Date Posted: 08:57:34 05/13/07 Sun Please keep in mind...These are just my opinions.... Things to DO and NOT to do at a photo shoot: 1. Show up on time. If you are running late...Make sure to cal the photographer and let him/her know and when you should be there. 2. Show up rested...Do not stay up late the night before.Get your rest before your photo shoot..You do not want to look tired. 3.Practice posing in front of the mirror before your shoot...You practice walking the run way for pageants right?? Why not practice your poses as well..I always tell models to work on their expressions and poses in front of a mirror with some music on. 4. Come prepared. Have all your outfits picked out. Bring a good selection of clothing....Not every outfit has to be black...Bring a variety of colors and different looks. 5.Make sure you have something to eat before you shoot so you are not hungry as soon as the lights go on..Also..Bring along some water/juice to drink as time goes by to stay hydrated..Bringing fruit, crackers or a small snack is a good idea too..Bring a toothbrush as well so you have nothing stuck in your teeth. 6. Do not wear sunglasses on the way to the shoot..You end up with a nice dent on your nose when you get to the studio/location of the shoot. 7. Wear a clear deodorant..Nothing is less attractive than that nice white filmy look under your arm...yuck!! 8. If you are having a make up artist doing your make up...Show up with a clean face...It saves time where you don't have to go and clean your face when you get there... Don't have any product in your hair either... 9. Leave what ever problem or attitude you may have at the door.You are there to have fun and forget about your problems.... 10. Turn your cell phone on silent....Nobody cares what song you have on your cell phone...I know I don't want to hear it while we are shooting...Do not make calls or answer calls while shooting...That is the most annoying thing a model can do while the shoot is in session...In the case of an emergency or if somebody is looking for directions to where the shoot is taking place...That would be an exception to the rule.... 11. Do not bring a posse of friends with you. If you plan on bringing a guest..Let the photographer know...Do not just show up with a group of people. I prefer 1 guest if any. 12. If you have a guest with you...That person needs to know that there is a session taking place in which the guest needs to allow the flow to happen. The guest is just that. A guest. There should not be any talking going on while the shoot is going on. That person needs to respect the photographer who is doing their job. Disrupting the flow of the shoot will not benefit the model in anyway. It only annoys us ( the photographer ) if we have to tell the person to refrain from talking or being distracting..We are now paying less attention to the model.I tell parents to bring along some magazines or a book with them so they have something to do. 13. Bring some cds along with you...It's always good to have music to shoot to that you are familiar with..The radio is good to listen to but there are so many interruptions or songs that you may not want to listen to. 14. Bring along some tear sheets or photos you can print off the Internet that appeal to you...If you show me a photo that you like..It gives me a good idea of what you want your photos to look like as well and cuts out the guessing game..Your input is important... 15. Last but not least...Have fun!! Enjoy yourself!! Things to be aware of: If you are uncomfortable in a pose or an outfit the photographer has you in...Speak up...Do not hold your feelings back...Always go with your gut instinct...If a photographer touches you inappropriately or suggests you change in front of them because that is alright...That is a huge red flag.....None of that is alright and you need to do something about it EVEN IF IT MEANS YOU LEAVE THE PHOTO SHOOT.....It's better to be safe than sorry.
