After replying to a couple of posts here it got me thinking. Taylor just turned 8 & has done about a dozen pageants--over the past two years. She has really gained so much from these - self esteem, self respect, met new friends overcame her shyness. Im wondering if there is a point in which we are just throwing our money away. Dont get me wrong, I think there are some wonderful pageants out there. Its just at Taylors age they are the same things over & over. She is too young to compete where her education comes into play, community involvement is still a little much for her age, sure, she knows she wants to be a vet when she is older & she does fantastic in school (still doesnt get letter grades yet as she is only in 2nd grade). I cant help but wonder if waiting until she is a pre-teen to start again (if she wanted to) where there is more to it than just being "cute". To me, all the young girls I see are adorable--but Taylor would still have another four plus years before she hits the teen part - is it really that different than?
Is there anyone here contestant or parent who has done pageants from a young age through to teen yrs? Or anyone who started young, stopped until they were a teen than started again? Do you have any positives or negatives you can share about either way?
Thanks so much!!
Sherry
