Fortunately, the double standard in hospitals and doctor's offices about male nudity has improved to some extent compared to years ago when there was little if any respect for the privacy of men and boys when they were naked.
Back in the early 1980s the 17 year old son of a friend of mine fell off the roof of a house he was helping to repair. He ended up breaking a couple of ribs, having a slight fracturing of a vertebrae, both of his legs were broken in different places on each leg and both of his arms were broken. I went to see him a few hours after he was admitted and his dad was already there. His legs were elevated and held up with a type of pulley system. He was naked and they had a sheet and blanket over him and between his legs so as to cover his "privates". Not long after I arrived a female nurse came in and told his dad that they were going to put a catheter in his son's penis. They closed a curtain around him which was left open at one of the corners. I tried to close it more but the open space was because the rail holding the curtain above in the ceiling was apart by about 1.5 feet and caused a gap in the curtain ends. His bed was the first bed as you came into the room and there were two other beds in the room and other people were visiting the patients in the other beds. I noticed that 4 of those people looked through the open space as they walked by while the nurse was with my friend's son and while he was exposed.
He started yelling some at one point so his dad and I looked through the opening in the curtain to see what he was yelling about. He was yelling because the nurse was inserting the catheter. He was getting excited and moving around probably in an attempt to get away but he couldn't. The nurse must have signaled for help because very soon two other female nurses came in to help. I didn't continue looking so I don't know what they did.
Later, I was curious why there was such a gap in the curtain that could not be closed so I talked with one of the nurses about it. She explained to me that the room my friend's son was in had originally been part of a ward and the wall behind my friend's son's bed was removable. When the wall wasn't there, the bed was turned around so that the foot of the bed would be where the head was at that time. The gap in the curtain would then be behind the patient and was so that the nurses could look in or bring in equipment without disturbing the patient.
Then she said something very interesting which was "Of course, with the room like it is now, we never put a woman in that bed." I asked why and she told me "Women are always placed in the last bed furthest away from the door to protect their privacy. With a man it doesn't matter so much but we still try to protect his privacy too but it's better if a man is in that bed and the second one than a woman."
Two days later, I went back to see my friend's son and when I arrived it was about 45 minutes prior to the actual visiting hours. I went into the room anyway. There were two older women visiting the woman who was in the very last bed and a middle aged man visiting the man in the middle bed. A female nurse was giving a topical bath with a wash rag dipped in water and soap to my friend's son. Except for the gap, the curtain was closed around the bed. When I looked through the curtain's gap the nurse was washing my friend's son's upper leg and then she started washing his genitalia. My friend's son had an erection. The catheter that had been inserted a couple of days before had been removed. I then heard the nurse say that she would be "right back" so I stepped away from the gap in the curtain thinking that she would be coming through. Instead, she opened the curtain at the foot of my friend's son's bed. Then she brought the pan of water out and took it out of the room leaving the curtain open and my friend's son uncovered and completely exposed to anyone who might pass by or be in the room. He didn't say anything but this must have been really embarrassing for him especially considering that his legs were open and being held up by a pulley system which also caused a full exposure of his bottom. I started to cover his privates with the sheet when two female attendants came into the room and told me they were going to change his bed clothing. The two attendants got on either side of the bed and both removed top sheet and blanket then they pulled the bottom sheet out from underneath my friend's son. He continued to have an erection that none of the staff said anything about. Then the two attendants walked out of the room with the bed clothing continuing to leave my friend's son completely exposed.
At this point a man, a woman and a girl who appeared to be about 16 or 17 years old walked into the room to visit the person in the middle bed. All three of them turned and looked at my friend's son as they walked by. It was kind of cute that a few times, the girl peeked around the curtain on the side of the bed between the two beds looking at my friend's son. I was talking with him intermittently but trying to also stay out of the way of the hospital procedures. One of the times the girl looked around the curtain my friend's son saw her and he said "hi" to her but she didn't say anything and went back behind the curtain.
A man and a woman staff members then came in with sheets and blankets and redressed my friend's son's bed. They covered him with a sheet and a blanket. He had been exposed as described for probably about 15 to 20 minutes. He could not cover himself with his hands because both of his arms and shoulders were in casts that were bent at the elbows. His arm movements were very restricted.
As mentioned previously, during the time the nurse was washing my friend's son, he had a full erection. When the nurse washed his penis and scrotum with the wash rag, I saw his penis throbbing so much that it bounced a few times while I was looking. Both she and my friend's son were unaware of my presence. When she was washing my friend's son's penis and scrotum I heard her say softly to him "That feels good doesn't it?" He replied in the affirmative.
The whole time my friend's son was in the hospital, he stayed in that first bed. Every time I went there the second bed was occupied by a man. There were two changes in the men who were in the second bed. There was one change in the women who had the third bed closest to the window and farthest away from the door to the room.
On a couple of occasions when I was there, the nurses went to the third bed (the one farthest from the door) to care for the woman in that bed. On those two occasions they shut the curtain around her. The gap was not on the side where the other two beds were but instead, the gap in the curtain was on the other side closest to the window. We were five or six stories high and there were no other buildings nearby so there was no possibility someone could have looked into the window and then through the gap in the curtain. None the less, the nurse closed the gap in the curtain with something from inside the curtain. I know this because I could see the front of the curtain in the reflection of a mirror on the wall. I saw them closing the curtains and saw also that it stayed closed except at the very top and bottom of the curtains where the two curtains separated. This had never been done for the males in beds one and two.
Whenever the first man who occupied bed #2 was taken to the shower or to the bathroom down the hall, a nurse would walk with him pushing the bottle of IV fluid along with them. As they walked out of the room the back of his hospital gown was always opened exposing his naked backside. Unlike the first man to occupy bed #2, the second man who occupied bed #2 asked the nurse if she would close it for him by tying the ties. She told him, it didn't matter and no one would pay any attention and she had other patients she had to take care of. The man got angry and stood there and demanded they give him the robe in the closet. Reluctantly the nurse gave him the robe which he was only able to put over his shoulders and one arm because of the IV in his arm.
The woman in the third bed was always given a robe to wear without an argument. I saw them walking by and noticed that they had the tube of the IV running out of the sleeve of the robe which means they had disconnected the IV from the end at the bottle and then reattached it. This was something they never did for the men who had IV's in their arms. They always made sure the back of her gown was tied together and they would close the two curtains together whenever she would arise from bed and put the robe on for the trip down the hall to the bathroom. The reason I know they tied the two sides of the gown together even though the curtain sides were clipped together is because I overheard the conversation between the woman and the nurses.
My friend's son said he did not care about the exposure of his body but I'm sure the experience was at least somewhat humiliating for him because his knees were bent and the part of his legs below the knee were lifted somewhat higher than what would be parallel to the bed below. The top part of his legs above the knee were somewhat lower than a perpendicular angle to the bed (toward the foot of the bed). Also, his legs were spread as wide open as the sides of the hospital bed because that is the way they had the pulley system adjusted. Actually, his dad made a joke about him looking like a "wish bone" from a turkey. His bottom was elevated slightly off the bed by an angled cushion that was under his extreme lower back. Probably most humiliating of all was that when the sheet was off of him, because of the way his butt was slightly elevated and resting on the angled cushion and because of how far apart they had his legs spread which also caused a spreading apart of his butt cheeks, his rectum could be easily seen without having to bend down. I was told they injected him daily with a heavy dose of a muscle relaxant drug and because of this and because of the other drugs they gave him his legs, buttocks and his body overall offered no resistance to the positions they had him in.
Facially and physically, he was then and still is a very good looking guy which caused most of the females who entered the room to turn and look at him. In more recent years, I saw an actor whom he resembled at that age. When I first saw this actor, I called my friend's son to tell him about the resemblance and he told me that a couple of other people had mentioned the resemblance. The actor I'm talking about is Tom Welling when he was younger.
