A little tailoring-work, so a hospital gown sized "2XL" or so fits fine in the shoulders and at the top tie in the back, but has opened up to lack 10 inches of closing at all, from the shoulderblades on down...

No--this isn't another hospital-gown joke. At the time I wore either XL or 2XL shirts. The gown was marked "2XL." It fit as a 2XL should fit on me, at the neck & the sleeves. The hem was up where, if you had been standing & facing me as I stood, I still had a couple of secrets--but if you'd been sitting in a low chair, you'd see much of what I have. And in back, below the neck, the gap was about 10 inches by the next set of tie-tapes, so there wasn't any point to trying to tie them. The gap got wider from there. So this hospital-issue garment, with the right size-label and fit at the top, was barely the front of a pajama-top when I wore it.

If any group of persons is altering a few hospital-gowns like this, on purpose--well done! I loved it. I just hope I didn't cause anyone to be asked any hostile questions. I hope the sweet Nurse who guided me by my elbow was entertained rather than offended by the view.
