Kayaking Tips

It is best for paddlers to follow these tips. Water conditions vary in terms of current, levels and obstacles. It is best to be prepared for these variations.
1. Check out a map first so you can carefully plan your route and paddling activity and the length of time it would require to kayak.
2. Always wear a life vest. Even seasoned swimmers should wear one.
3. Check the water levels and the best time to visit a sandbar or a mangrove site to lessen the possibility of wasting one's time or getting stranded on very shallow waters.
4. Always bring food and lots of water. Kayaks usually have compartments or straps where you can secure food, water and other stuff.
5. In case of long distance trails, secure a motorized support boat to help transport the kayaks and paddlers between rides.
6. Always use high SPF sunscreen and a hat. For clothing, a rash guard would be the best option.
7. Watch out for motorized boats. Stay to the right and turn the bow into their wake.
8. Respect local communities.
9. Do not disturb wildlife.
10. Bring a cellular phone for emergency purposes.
11. Always leave information to somebody about your kayaking trail and the
amount of time you would be paddling so that emergency procedures can be
mounted in case you would need help.
12. It is best to wear colorful clothing.
13. Bring a snorkel set just in case the coral reef below your kayak becomes really
tempting for snorkeling.
