In days of yore, the Head Council and its members partied and fiddled while their beloved city of Rome burned to the ground around them. History does, indeed, repeat itself. This time, while the National Board parties and fiddles around with the big money people and interests at the top level, MAO, at the local level, is burning to the ground around them. In an effort to raise funds and some national exposure, our "Council" is destroying the very program that makes their existance possible.
The State Board does everything they can think of to increase the number of contestants at State. With the small numbers of locals in the state, those offering multiple titles go above and beyond in an effort to send as many girls as possible. Now, who is going to take it in the neck the hardest? You guessed it, the locals offering the most titles! I understand that this new ruling doesn't come from the State level. I know it originated at the top. If we are going to have a hope to head this off we are going to have to lean on our state leaders hard enough that they will start to lean on the national powers. I would hope that if the national board begins to sense the impending demise of the locals, they may rethink this latest folly they have saddled us with.
As a local Director, I can call my pageant anything I want to. I don't have to subscribe to ANYONES dictates as to what I do with the funds I raise. I can call my pageant "Your Lucky Day Pageant" and give my contestants every dollar I am able to raise. After all, isn't that what we all got involved in this to do from the beginning?
