Bren had been sitting in the common room, staring into the fire in the hearth. Sleep clamed her, but she didn't know when. Colors started flashing in her mental vision. Emotions clamed her. Pain, longing, the feel of being alone. Banishment. She straightened, eyes shooting open. She let out a small, startled scream. **Why must you torture me so?!** she said to the open air infront of her, knowing Gener, who was right next to her, must think she was crazy. **Even in from the afterlife you do. Why?!** She let her head fall into her hands. **Because you must learn,** came the voice she heard so seldom these days. And even when it spoke, it led her to no logical conclusion. **Go help her. She's been hurt,** it said and was gone. Hopefully for good, but Bren doubted it. She climbed the stairs to Lanski's room. The voice had said she, and Lanski was the only sleeping female in the place before Bren. She walked over and sat down next to her. She asked, **What has happened to you that it torments your dreams so?**
