I agree with Ryan -- I think Tartan H.S. should return to the 4 period/quarter system. Being a prepared student, last year I planned out my whole 4 year schedule. After the switch I replanned and couldn't take as many classes. Because of the new 6 period/trimester system, I can't take Spanish III and other extra elective courses I want to take, because of Band/Choir. Another reason the 4 period/quarter system was better is the time length of the classes. With the new 55 minute classes we barely have time to finish labs in science class and learn new things. With shorter classes we also get shorter passing time. This is bad because the school is even more crowded this year than it was last year. Sometimes you can barely make it to your next class! Another bad thing is the length of the school day seems longer, because of the extra classes. Finally, more classes equals more homework. Even though we have shorter class time, the teachers still pack on the same amounts of homework. It is hard to put the same effort on work when you have so much...not to mention sports, jobs, and clubs after school take up time! In conclusion -- The 6 period/trimester system is a bust and they should go back to the 4 period/quarter system.
