I do not agree that there should be competition in elementary and middle schools. Yes, some people can afford to buy their kids lessons, private tutors, and private schools, but what about everyone else? Where does the education start? In a comfortable, positive, stimulating environment. Why should kids need to compete for an education? What a way to kill a child's curiousity or interest in learning. Not many families have the salary, time, or special abilities to send their kids to private schools, and that is just sending a bad message: only the people with money can be educated. That's just what the media wants. Only people with power through money can make a difference. What does that say about the morals behind the face really running this country? What do we rEAlly care about in the U.S.? What is this country for anyways? It was made for freedom and liberty. That means freedom to grow up and become an educated citizen. If our country is so powerful like it prides itself to be, then why can't we even sustain our own children's futures? What 'power' lies in an uneducated society? None. Yes, money for public schooling means less for other things, but what is more important to stand up for? Education is everything. You want to learn how to speak? You need to learn it. You want to get a job? You need to learn for it. Pretty much, if you want to survive, you need an education. Period. And if we rEALLy care about the well-being of our citizens, we need equal opportunities for every single person. I don't think anyone wants to see the right to prejudice being gained because the less fortunate are once again denied their need for a good school system. How is our country Really making our future? I'd say this nation needs less funding on the war, and more on brain power. Or else we'll just end up a bunch of idiots killing people.
(Valentina, sorry this got a little off track, but there's a lot tied into this and I wanted to release the tension inside of my bones, and my soul.) lol
Thank You,
Mara R. Dobervich
