But even glitz shouldn't have to cost that much. Seriously look at the amount of material in a dress including decorations...most are not worth $1000 or more. Most wedding dresses don't cost that much and they have alot more material. The cost is outrageous and for what?? to support the vendors -- Anonymous, 14:36:53 02/27/07 Tue [1]

Yeah but if you dont beleive in that then dont support it. I know PLENTY of nationals where you dont need all of that. So do the ones you dont have to support those people. Those who want to will and there is no sense in being angry about it. Just look at it as...if you spen $300 do you child yourself with a simple pretty dress, she wins Miss Canada and that person spends $750 entry, $400 h/m, $2000 dress to become Miss Galmour Cutie...I still think you have accomplished more -- Anonymous, 10:02:25 02/28/07 Wed [1]

I agree why do you care if "Miss Royal Sweetheart" director changes her pageant. GO TO ONE YOU LIKE! That is what this board is for...positive. Go to one you already like and dont change the fly by night nationals by mommy next door. Do pageants that agree with you and your child and dont worry with the mom who will be broke is 23 months paying to get a crown and a title that know one will care about. -- Anonymous, 10:08:24 02/28/07 Wed [1]

The point wasn't to change the pageants but to change what it cost to participate in a pageant....you shouldn't have to go broke with a hobby. We do support the ones we like and don't go back to those we don't like. I don't BASH but I do believe some of the cost of doing a pageant are getting stupid. -- Anonymous, 16:02:20 02/28/07 Wed [1]

But again, you are not getting the fact that there are so many pageants out there, pick the ones you like. If moms will quit trying to change what pageants they dont like and just dont go. Eventually when people see which pageants work better, the "bad" pageants wont continue. You think if a very glitzy pageant says ok, they have taken into heart everything about clothes vendors, pictures etc... that you have complaints about and we will change. Do you not think that when big name contestant shows up they wont win because they have the best still? Quit trying to change those pageants and find your own. -- Anonymous, 05:35:02 03/01/07 Thu [1]

I agree the #1 argument is that you dont like glitzy pageants because of the price of everything, well that is glitzy pageants. So find some natural you like or state level and leave the glitz alone if you dont like it. It wont change to suit you that is what glitz is. Abercrombie sells abercrombie clothes. I think they are too expensive for my 7 year old. Do you think if I bitched enough they could sell wal mart clothes and make me happy? No, I just dont shop at Abercrombie, but I dont bitch everyday about them. They are not my kind of store and I go to what I do like... -- Anonymous, 05:37:34 03/01/07 Thu [1]

Excuse me? You can HARDLY compare Abercrombie/ Wal Mart with a pageant. I mean- REALLY. -- Anonymous, 14:15:27 03/02/07 Fri [1]

Please tell us why you can use an example of the way your money is spent to explain a situation regardless of how it is spent. If you would do what you want to do in life and quit worrying about the way things go for the things you dont agree with, life would be much more fun for you and your family. -- Anonymous, 15:17:04 03/02/07 Fri [1]
