Subject: I am a director and my biggest problem is contestants meeting my deadlines.

Its very hard to run a pageant not knowing what your numbers are going to be. First we have to book the hotel, pay for advertising, order prizes (that is very hard to do when you don't know how many are coming for sure),plus its very expensive. Then you get a bunch of "We're coming" and then they don't show up. Parents, remember its very hard to make sure we have prizes if we don't know your going to be there. Try, when possible to enter by the deadline. This makes the pageant run smoother and everyone has a less stressful time.

Why not set a deadline and stick to it? If you don't have a deposit in by xx/xx you don't compete. NO EXCEPTIONS!! I won't return to a pageant that doesn't honor its own rules. If you set deadline and then let others in after...it creates hard feelings. Yes you may lose some but your reputation will be intact and there are many of us parents who would prefer smaller better run pageants than big dishonest ones. You can also judge how much to order by how many entries you have on hand by deadline.

I know if we send in $$ we will be there so we don't lose our money, if for some reason you can't attend, no refunds you will be credited another pageant. If we don't have money to pay deposit for a pageant by deadline, we don't do that pageant. Stop giving the 'we're coming' people the benefit of not paying...odds are if they can't pay by deadline, they aren't paying period!

We've done NAM and they have very clear deadlines...you want a pageant run like their's??? Follow their lead. They also don't cater to VENDORS and their #'s are high. Last pageant dd did there were over 50 girls in her division.

We have also done NAM and Coed.
Last year, my daughter won Princess in Coed.
This year, she is crowning a new queen.
We had no intentions of competing this year, but, then, our daughter said that she would really like to, because she couldn't with Coed.
She had already gone to Nationals, done her reign, and by the time the NAM pageant came, would only have a few weeks before she crowned a new Princess.
The approval was given, and we contacted NAM. The approval was given there also, and within a couple of days, we had signed up, sent in her pictures, and paid all the fees.
Now, normally we would've had to raise the fees, but, we happened to have them already.
Our daughter placed in the top 15, was 1st runner up in Talent, and 4th in Actress.
She had also moved up to Jr PreTeen, and was one of the younger girls.
There were about 42 girls in Jr. PreTeen this year.
I don't think the late sign up had anything to do with money, or numbers or anything else.
The Directors have known our daughter since she was 4, and was so looking forward to seeing her again.
Once you have been with a system for awhile, it's kind of like family.
I love both systems.
I also think we have the best Directors... the Maples, who happen to be c0-owners of NAM.
