As I saw you worked a lot in the two first quesions, and it is still answered I thought it could be more helpful if I could work in the last one: "comments about a topic covered frequently in the articles published over the past 12 months". Marilia has already talked about the article that investigates about reading skills, which is a very interisting topic and I wish our country could do something like that research in terms of literature. But, anyway, another topic we can verify that researches are worried about and that is covered frequently in this journal is how new tecnologies are influencing not only langage itself but its use and still its learning. For example there is a research that analyze how how frequently symbolic expressions (e.g., “BTW,” “LOL,” “UR”) in an SMS text messaging.are utilized and how they are utilized in terms of the language functions that they signal. A corpus of messages were selected to be analyzed. They were students messages, the ones in Yahoo’s SMS chat website. Through this means the research conclude that it has also given rise to a new language form - its own language culture - in which abbreviated spellings, a investigate cronyms, and other shorthand notations are almost universally employed by its users.
