Date Posted: 10:25:55 08/10/10 Tue The difference between journal and other sources of knowledge such as magazine, newspaper and newsletters is the credibility. Magazines attend to a general public (Time, Veja, Vogue, Vanity Fair). They are written by professional journalist (is not necessary to be a specialist in the field), essayist, poets and writers of fictions. The issues are a wide variety of subjects:popular interest, photography, editorial opinion, advertisements. The focus is first hand accounts and there is not necessary list of sources and bibliography. On the other hand, journals attend scholars, specialists and students. They are written by specialist on the field, generally scholars with PhDs. They emphasize research results (report of original research), detailed examination, statistical analysis, and graphics.Bliography usually is included. The language used may be difficult to be understood because of technical language or jargon. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
