Subject: Taming a Rebellious Teenage Son

I am a 38year old single parent of a hyperactive and rebellious 18 year old son. He is very active in sports, including track and baseball, and he is a good student. He at times, however, gets mouthy, acts disrespectful toward me, and stays out past the time he agreed to come home on a Saturday night. What seems to work best for discipline is to confront him when he gets home late with a calm but firm voice, have him walk over to the back of the couch, have him take off his levis and pull down his white briefs until they are off, and then have him spread his legs and lean forward with his arms stretched out and hands on the top of the back of the couch. This position places his bottom angled up in the air. I then walk behind him and spank his bottom with my bare hand until he is near tears and promises to follow the rules. I am wondering what works for other women to discipline males in their lives.
