Woman stabs ex-roommate, police say

A woman who was upset about her former female roommate's efforts to start a romantic relationship with her allegedly stabbed her four times when the ex-roommate came over early yesterday morning, police said.

Ronisie G. DePaula, 39, of 23 Wilde Ave., Apt. 1, was arrested at home at 1:55 a.m. and charged with domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault with intent to murder.

She also had a warrant from Marlborough charging her with driving without a license, obstructing an emergency vehicle and violating a state highway traffic regulation.

When police arrived at DePaula's home, they found a large amount of blood on the front porch, said Lt. Paul Shastany. The trail of blood went down the hallway to the kitchen, where police found a serrated steak knife with blood on it, he said.

DePaula told police her former roommate came back to talk about a possible romantic relationship with her and, when DePaula said she wasn't interested, the former roommate slapped and scratched her, Shastany said.

The women had lived together for six months. The alleged victim moved out about six weeks ago.

After the alleged slapping and scratching, DePaula apparently grabbed the steak knife and slashed the former roommate, said Shastany.

Police found the victim with four cuts - a superficial slash on the right side of her neck, a deep laceration on her thumb, and deep lacerations on her left bicep and forearm.

She was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries.
