It was not common practice for a friend to see you getting a shot but it sometimes happened with younger children who were being difficult and resistive or rarely even older children or a teen. Mothers often helped with the care of others children such as minding children who were ill if the mother had to go to the shops or another activity. Sometimes if the mother knew the child would be resistive she might arrange for a friend or relative to be present just in case restraint was needed. I saw a couple of friends get a shot over the years and also some others get shots in hospital although they usually put screens around a bed before giving a shot but not always. I only saw other boys get shots as girls were always in seperate wards in hospital and in the home no mother would have let a boy see a girl get a shot in her bottom. There tended to be a double standard in this regard though. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
