Subject: Transfers-some teachers

on the other mw board-a tc responded listing reasons why some teachers don't take transfer students-and most of them were reasons which would require information about a dancer/family that would be obtained from current TCRG-does it seem unethical, unprofessional and maybe even borderline slanderous to tell another prospective teacher that a particular dancer is not pleasant with whom to work? or that mr.smith was not prompt with tuition payments? it's just somewhat bothersome that teachers would discuss dancers/families negatively, thereby jeapordizing a child's chance to start fresh at another dance school.

That's sort of just life. It doesn't have to be a TCRG telling another one not to take the student. So much can be gleaned from feising together over the years, parent talk etc. I think most teachers try to accommodate students but sometimes the situation is just not worth it to take on.

[> [> In any not-forced to take a child situation, if it's an iffy situation to take a child in (say, squeezed on room), the make it or break it isn't the child, it's the parent. However, that TCRG posted several potential reasons, not just this one. -- my TC limits class sizes, 15:33:23 08/22/07 Wed [1]

[> often times when a transfer takes place it is the teacher that is hurt and the bad reputation begins. sadly others believe the rumors weather true or not and the dance can be ruined. -- reputations are important to both teachers and families, 17:33:29 08/19/07 Sun [1]

[> When we transfered, we were told it was just to make sure we were paid up with school. Not to be slanderous, by any means. It is a matter of credit. Did you take lessons & not pay for them. I think that some schools now have 'agreements' with other schools not to take their students though -- /, 10:32:14 08/20/07 Mon [1]
