Hey Tom, Hey Amy,
I am now 33 and have been smoking since I was 14. I used to smoke when I wanted to, until I was about 16 or 17. Then, as I smoked more cigarettes each day, and made it a routine to smoke at certain times of the day, I would always really want to smoke at those times. Then, I started to smoke in between those times and began to get these urges to smoke. I think this is when I first really noticed the cravings. As time wore on, I noticed that my palms would sweat, my hands would shake, I would get almost a "butterflies" feeling in my stomach, I would get headaches, it became difficult to concentrate, all that, until I lit up a cigarette. Then these feeling would slowly fade with each puff. Back then one cigarette would usually calm the cravings, but I would say within the past 5-7 years, that one did not do it anymore so I had to smoke two, and now sometimes even three, if I have gone a long time without smoking. Basically, the more you smoke, the more you will want to smoke, and need to smoke. If you are worried about the health risks, you should probably quit now, but if you want to smoke more, if you really enjoy smoking, then hopefully you will learn to enjoy your body's growing need for the nicotine it craves and you are able to light up as frequently as you need to so your cravings don't get too bad. But I will let you in on a little something that I like to do. Try not to smoke for as long as you possibly can. When you absolutely cannot take it anymore, light up. I guarantee that cigarette will taste sooooooo good, and you may want to smoke another, and another, and another and maybe even another, or as many as you can until your nicotine level is satisfactory.
