Hi Kahlan -
I have not posted about my recent experiences for a while, but in the light of your discussion with Hayley, and the fact that you and I smoke the same amount and started about the same time, I thought I would share them with you and others. A few weeks ago, just from time to time, I was starting to feel a slight need to smoke. Over the last two weeks though, my cravings have developed (like Hayley is experiencing too) and they occur in the morning, often very strong. I would be lying if I were to say that I am not a little nervous about it, but fortunately to this point I can go the whole workday without smoking and have not had problems, it is just in the morning. Rita posted a nice response to me a while back where she indicated that despite being a smoker for some time, she too can go hours and not even think about smoking, so I guess it is different for everyone to some extent. The relief and the feeling that my morning cigarette brings is extremely pleasant, but the loss of control the craving brings has been a little difficult for me to adjust to at times. At this stage, I can only hope that I will eventually become more relaxed with the change, and perhaps it is just me and maybe most easily adapt to it. This would be an interesting question for the more experienced smokers, and I hope they weigh in because it would be helpful to hear their experiences. I suspect, the responses would vary quite a bit. I guess it comes down to how one feels about the pros and cons of it, and if they are willing and able to deal with them relatively easily. But again, for me, 6-7a day for a little over two months did bring them.
ttyl,
Bill
