You may be well meaning in your intent to share the word of Jesus with non believers, but non believers such as myself take offense to that idea. I do not expect you to understand because you are just too bull-headed and arrogant to comprehend that not everyone in this world believes as you think they ought to believe. You are an exceedingly closed minded person to any reasoning but your own.

Re: Then again, it was God Himself who said... -- Phil, 09:11:29 03/01/08 Sat [1] (71-223-7-96.phnx.qwest.net/71.223.7.96)
...your lot were a 'stiff-necked people' in the Book of Genesis. Barb, we Christians are called to the Great Commission to spread the Word of the Lord and I do not intend to offend anyone. Furthermore, this is a Catholic forum and if you choose not to participate then that would be fine with me. Or are you just trying to curry favor with the usual suspects again? What else is new?
Take care, God Bless,
Phil from Christian AZ

"My Lot".....Oh, that's rich, Phil! .......................... -- Barb, 10:19:00 03/01/08 Sat [1] (clgrtnt9-port-235.dial.telus.net/161.184.54.235)
So are you "bigoted" as well as arrogant then? Do you wish me not to be here so you can be certain that your belief system is not questioned? I do not need to curry favour with those I like and respect. I like and respect Joan alot, for who and what she is...and for what she believes. Let's get serious here. You would not wish me to spew my belief system to you. I was merely saying that for you to do so to me, is also not welcomed. You addressed the issue about sharing the word of Jesus with non believers and I have the right to take my stand on it.

Re: No way... -- Phil, 11:23:40 03/01/08 Sat [1] (71-223-7-96.phnx.qwest.net/71.223.7.96)
I accept the Old Testament as part of the Bible. Thus, its illogical to be bigoted against my own religion. Perhaps its you who've gone out of your way, Barb, to show offense. That's typical. Now c'mon, this is a Catholic forum and if you wanna discuss the Old Testament, that would be OK with me. Meanwhile, the anti-Phil hysteria seems to have gripped you again, as it often does with the usual suspects of the well-passed-it Waltons Gang.
Take care, God Bless,
Phil from AZ

Phil, what the Bible says to you and what the Bible says to me...... -- Barb, 16:43:10 03/01/08 Sat [1] (clgrtnt5-port-125.dial.telus.net/161.184.48.125)
...2 different things. Let's leave it at that.
I am thrilled that you have termed several of us as "Well-Passed-It" and I take it as a compliment. Yes, we are well passed...the nonsense and the baloney, and at our mature ages, we have common sense and wisdom...so thank you, Phil! :-) When you mature, let us know. We might let you join our gang! lol
Take care, Good Grief

Maturity -- Joan, 06:07:32 03/02/08 Sun [1] (ip68-0-253-131.ri.ri.cox.net/68.0.253.131)
"Yes, we are well passed...the nonsense and the baloney,"
It's funny that you bring this up today, because I was just thinking that at church today. I don't know why I was, but there it is. :)
I keep thinking that if I knew then...
The more you learn, the more you realize you don't know.
Poor Bob. He was 43 when we got married, and I was 23. How did he stand it!! Now that I'm 45, I can't imagine having to deal with a 23 yr-old spouse. I can't tell you how many stupid arguments we had over things that I thought were important. It was so incredibly stupid. It's a wonder Bob didn't walk away. lol
Well, live and learn.
What will I be thinking when I'm Bob's age (65)? I'll probably be appalled at how immature and stupid I was at 45. :)
Joan

Joan...Obviously Bob saw your potential back then! lol.......... -- Barb, 10:09:13 03/02/08 Sun [1] (clgrtnt7-port-82.dial.telus.net/161.184.52.82)
Some people are born with old wisdom and common sense I think, and some never become wise and gain common sense. I think you underestimate yourself. You have probably always been alot more mature and alot less stupid than you give yourself credit for! Bob knew a good thing then and he knows a good thing now...and that will forever be. :-)

Phil, it isn't anti-Phil hysteria. Your comments are frequently out of line.
This forum is titled Catholic Friends. That means that it's a forum to discuss Catholic beliefs without fear of being blasted. The forum was started so we could talk about things that always cause a fight on Brenda's forum.
If I had started the McCain/Huckabee topic on Brenda's, I'm sure that most who responded there would have defended McCain, Huckabee, *and* Hagee for holding perfectly correct views on the Catholic Church. So we have this forum to air our views. It's open to everyone who can come here and discuss these things without being insulting to anyone.
I know that it's some churches' mission to convert others. And the Catholic Church certainly doesn't hide its faith. But this isn't the place to look for converts. I don't think it's fair to blindside people with a relgion sales pitch. I think it's better to spread the word only when asked, and then only answer the question. I don't want to be hassled about religion, so I respect everyone elses right to choose their own religion.
Not that I don't like a good discussion about differing beliefs. :)
Joan

Re: Fair enough Joan... -- Phil, 15:55:16 03/01/08 Sat [1] (71-223-7-96.phnx.qwest.net/71.223.7.96)
But I dont think there would be many folks from Brenda's that defend what Hagee said, if they saw the clip. I think we can give 'em a lil' more credit than that. But I do ack that there may be a few who spt what that 'preacher' said.
Take care, God Bless,

Barby -- Catie, 10:07:29 03/02/08 Sun [1] (h23.55.90.75.ip.alltel.net/75.90.55.23)
Barb, I honor and respect your belief and know you have a vast knowledge of your heritage. I just want to throw this in, even though you know there are always exceptions to rules, just as a reminder...a TRUE Christian will show love. Not EVERYONE who calls themselves that, are one. :) You catch my drift.
We Christians wish not to be judged by an evil seed that spews negative rude remarks. Anyone can say "God bless" at the end of any sentence, but cursing and blessing can not live in the same "house" according to the old and new testament. Some just throw those words around carelessly. But you know that already my friend. :)
It was Christ that said we would recognize Christians by their "fruits" of the spirit. Which believe me does not include rude, negative words. Otherwise anyone can call themselves a Christian, regardless of their life, thoughts or deeds and then sum it all up by saying "God bless". Christ said to beware of those wolves in sheep clothing. ;)
